It was in refrence to what treez posted. plenty of activities to build muscle. Find one the dog enjoys and go with it or even better yet, find several and make a routine. you'll need to increase both feed and activity to gain mass. More mass requires more oxygen to allow those muscles to function. A bulky dog will gas out before a lean one will. Don't know why you want to bulk the dog up but most want to see them lean and built for endurance.. jm2c

Just take it to the gym :D While walking get a nice weight chain and let the dog drag it behind it.

I had my dog lean for more tha 2 years now. I know tha a big dog need more oxygen than a thinner one. But at the moment my dogs back legs are small that's why I ask what should I do? Walking doesn't make him bigger. Thanks.

Dogs are like people some can build muscles and others can not no matter what they do.

I would try a springpole. Hang it so the dog can just barely pull it down to where all 4 are on the ground. let him work it regularly. It will build his ass end, maybe not to the point of bulking but the exercise will help strengthen his stifle area, as well as his core, shoulders and neck. I'd put many miles to the pavement too. Someone mentioned dragging weight. That will build the ass end up too. That will be making him dig in with his lower half of his body every step he takes. May not bulk him up but will strengthen and define the back end. Genetics plays a huge role as well.

If the dog is over 2 years old, it's fully grown, it's not going to get bigger in any sort of dramatic way other than if you were to make him fat. You can put muscle on with diet and exercise but it's very unlikely that your going to stack 10, 15 or more lbs of muscle on a adult dog.

Bigger might not equal stronger though. Genetics will trump almost anything you do. I'm using about a 30lb tow chain for short ball sprints across the dirt a couple times a week.

The dog is 4,5 years old now. Condition he can be 22 kilos. In my eyes I don't have a problem with lean dogs but other people have. So I don't want to have a 28 kilos fat dog. I would like to have a 24- 25 kilos dog with muscles. Thanks.

The natural weight of the dog is where the dog will be at his peak performance. There is nothing to gain by bulking up a dog to make it heavier than natural weight. The only gain a bulked up dog may have is more strength for a very short period of time. They will be short on air, not move as well, harder on joints just all around worse on the dog. If you want a thick muscular dog to use to show off to people get a american bully. A American pit bulldog is built like a lightweight boxer. A American bully is built like a weightlifter.

Depends on who you get he dog from. I've seen lean bullies and bulky apbt.

This is my dog I only would like his back legs a little bit bigger. I don't want an American bully. I like real American pit bulls. As box bulldog said like a lightweight boxer. That's what I like.

Your dog looks like its in good shape to me. The rear legs are not thick but they looked defined I doubt you can get them much larger. Genetics has a lot to do with the shape/size/build of dog. Be proud of what you have and work with what you got.

His dog is fat and when he walks it he needs to let the dog walk him so the legs work more .
