Worming Question...

Discussion in 'Health & Nutrition' started by Bulldogges, Feb 3, 2016.

  1. Got some questions on my worm prevention schedule.

If I'm using Fenbendazole (Safeguard) for rounds, hooks, whips, and Praziquantel for tapes. Should I give both of these every month? Or rotate between the 2 every month?

    I use Ivomec for heartworm.

    Thanks guys.

I deworm my dogs when they need it. I do fecal floatations every few months or when I suspect there's a problem. I haven't dewormed my dogs in over a year. Just did a set of fecals on them - no parasites. I've had a couple friend's dogs come to stay on the yard recently. I tested them and they had hookworms. So I dewormed them along with everyone else just in case they'd spread something to one of mine. Testing the stool saves you a lot of money and time and keeps unnecessary poison out of your dogs. The only thing I give regularly is ivermectin once a month to prevent heartworms

I use nexgard/heartgard combination(you can buy them cheap online like on amazon, or petbucket.com) every month.
Some meds only require you to use 'em every two months, but when I did that, fleas came back like crazy,
so I use all meds every month. If you're living in some place flea-free, or less flea environment, you might go easy on the drugs.
