If any one followed a recent post . I had 2 dogs
    Male (unfixed)
    female fixed
My female died in her prime 3 weeks ago I figure
    RIP Millie

My male is a plenty forceful dog , But my female had kept him in line .
She was alpha over him , Wile he was bigger, logically stronger, he followed her lead . Wile even though she was spayed , they also had a dance of sorts that she would let him go through the mating mounting motions for like 10 seconds , Then she'd give a good growl and the event would stop . With a conclusion of her smelling & lick of the male part . So she was tough / no affection / yet she did allow a bit of foreplay . They did once have puppies a time ago .

So with that introduction - my male now is changing I have to create him as now he will chew him self out of the home . Today he completely went through a window
and I find him running around happy as can be .
He has since her death - cause damage upwards of a Grand .
Furthermore I dare say he is turning on now ( that might have no connection)
But my female was his Rock & Kept him Down - Now I have the real him .
He is still fine with family but clearly he is reestablishing his views with no hard ass female to guide him .
He is about 6 yrs and wile 2 dogs worked as they kept each other peaceful
For now a dare not experiment .

I feel I need reevaluate male dog now . He is in a create and thats a start I will build a dog house and car Axel with chain Next .
For sure he can not be left unattended any more .

Any tips to get him back to house dog status .

The mounting was more than likely a dominance thing more so than a breeding thing. He sounds like he has anxiety when left alone so he's keeping himself busy by fucking your shit up. Crate him when your not there to supervise him is the easiest fix to your issue. Especially if you plan on him being an outside dog anyway. Just my 2 cents worth. I've had 2 over the years have severe seperation anxiety and couldn't handle being left alone without entertaining them selves buy messing up my shit. Many never get over it, these dogs can be pretty neurotic sometimes.

I had A young pup I use to ride in the front of the pickup! Every time I left him alone he left A steaming turd right in the drivers seat!! I quit letting him ride in the cab, how he could squeeze one out so fast I'll never know!! So I quit letting him ride in the cab!

My male paces every time I go upstairs. I give him PRESSED rawhide or cows hooves to keep him docile
inside the home. He's always been a Mouthy dog. Since he was 5 weeks. He's not shy..but has separation issues.
He also has Extreme food aggression, not sure if there is a correlation between the traits. He also has some guarding issues.
I have a jeep and if I go for Gas he goes APE-SHIT at anybody in the lot
close to the jeep. but my kids have friends come over and they pat his head, and pull his tail no problemo.

What has got me amazed is how Me and other members of my family would always say look how crazy Milly is she nuts (she was so hyper) barking at the vacuum or just for the heck of it . The male always looked like this little angel so quite so methodical he had wings and a ring around his head . Oh yeah he was the sweet one . Now I see he is & was the mental case
he is more mental then ANY dog I have had . I never had this ever .
It took me by surprise as you know once your dog is like 6 you kinda figure
    what his SH#@* about .

I've raised these dogs for a very long and there is one thing I have never done and think it causes problems, that is raising these dogs like they are children or people. Every dog in my yard has been partially raised in the house around my family and then to the yard, they all can come inside right now and act accordingly. Never had a dog suffer from separation anxiety because we have boundaries and they are simple its a dog not a child and needs to be treated as such. Me and my dogs have a great relationship and eat better than me. The reason I'm writing this is because I can't count how many people have called me because they raised ole fluffy like their baby and now Fluffy is tearing shit up and doing as he pleases. Bulldogs are very strong willed animals and should never be left to run free and meet kids at a bus stop or whatever the case was. For the dog with the extreme food aggression you don't need a dog at all point blank period, food aggression is very easy to correct in a young dog. You might not like this but I just might save one of your children from being mauled, do the correct thing and cull the dog before a accident happens. Food aggression is very dangerous especially with a grown dog. Yis Ole Man

So true , a dog is a dog & easy to raise like a child , called humanize -
food aggression... that I don't have
in that regard never had a dog concerning
    food with issues .
    But multiple dogs food aggression
dog to dog seems consistently so
just a given with dogs & each other .

Dog on dog food aggression is normal and avoidable also don't feed the dogs together. Moins try a chain spot with plenty of exercise for your dog, alot of dogs get destructive out of boredom spring pole, flirt pole, knuckle bone. Best of luck

exercise your dog , take him outside , make him run ;)

  12. How much exercise and training does this dog actually get? He sounds seriously lacking in both.

I'm not claiming to have or know what it's like to have an APBT, but my take is that you had a second dog to keep the first in line and never actually worked with the first on how to act.

If the dog is that high strung, give him something to do.

I have two high drive, DA bitches, both intact. One's a GSD. Both live in the house with their human pack.

In addition to the dogs' understanding of the consequences which follow my 2nd "NO", keeping them productively occupied, supervised and crated when needed is important for maintaining the peace.

And I regularly kick their asses through a variety of physical exercises.

A perpetual work in progress. Ownership of these types of dogs is not for the lazy and weak minded.

Good ideas on this thread... Exercise, training, anything to wear him out a bit and keep his mind busy.

A big raw beef knuckle bone with him out on the chain spot will give him something to do too. Wear him out with a flirt pole.

Crate him when you have to leave him inside and can't keep an eye on him. And make a good chain set up with dog house too for keeping him outside part of the time.

My experience put him on the chain spot a while and then bring him back in, if he likes being in he won't fuck Shit up. If he fucks Shit up he prob likes outside better

There is some really good info here for the OP to consider. Working behavior with dogs, there are a few things of concern and consideration here. First, I am no sure of your overall level of experience with dogs, but these are very high level dogs, and require a great deal of knowledge when it comes to canine behavior. It sounds as though the female had a very well established tolerance level and communicated with the male effectively. The male on the other hand seems more like he has an over all manners issue, if you want to look at it that way. This is a behavior you are seeing get worse, since the females passing, and unless handled appropriately can excel in severity.

Anxiety/panic can be common when dogs lose a companion and now have a void to fill. Left unguided the dog will seek out its own ways to occupy it's time, which tends to be the destructive behavior you are seeing. Two things here. First Do you know if the destruction happens when you first leave the house (first 15 minutes)? Or you can come home 20 minutes later and everything is fine, and is only if you leave for a few house that the destruction happens. This simple test right here will determine the difference between "anxiety" and "boredom". That being said, If it is separation anxiety, I would strongly recommend seeing a qualified behaviorist to learn a good desensitization/counter condition protocol, and get some solid obedience on this dog or things will get worse. Also, handling these behavior issues in a forceful, or what some would call enforcing dominance over the dog, can certainly backfire in most "working" breeds. We work with many bite cases, and evaluate dogs, and knowing what to look for and how to properly counteract negative behaviors can greatly reduce the stress in the dog itself, leaving him open to taking better direction. It will also benefit you a great deal, and aid you in becoming a more experience handler.

As for the other side of it, lets say it is do to boredom. Well, these are dynomite dogs, that not only have an extremely high physical requirement, but also have a very high mental stimulation requirement. In other words, walking and running will only get you so far, and it is often times equally necessary to get the dogs prey drive engaged in a way that will satisfy the need. Here is an example of how it makes a difference. We had a client that got a hold of an inner city dog that was removed from a very poor situation, one of only a few that were saved because it was a pup. This gentleman was a marathon runner, and we strongly encouraged training after finding out he had very little experience with dogs in general, much less a real deal dog. He called us back when the dog was 8 months, at wits end, and said he had the dog up to 6 miles a day, and that the dog would come home, sleep for 20 minutes, and then be up causing as much destruction as before. I asked what he was doing for mental stimulation, and he had no idea what that even meant. Once we got him engaging, and satisfying the dogs drive, he could not believe the difference he saw in the dog. It helped reform the relationship, when he was a day away from bringing the dog back to where he got it.

It is common to feel the female may have been dominant over the male, but no, she just knew not to take his shit and knew how to keep him in line. Again, effective communication. This is another area to increase your skill, as most training methods completely ignore a dogs communication system to begin with. These dogs are not like, say a Golden, where they may take shit for 10 minutes, throwing appeasement, calming and warning signals. These are dogs, that are quick to escalate and know how to train you if you are not on top of training them. This can be a very dangerous combination of issues, left unchecked.

Get that dog thinking on his own, get him proper physical/mental stimulation and you will see much of this subside. If you are still seeing issues from there, professional help would be required if you want to work with that particular dog. I hope this does not come across as me calling you inexperienced, I am simply trying to address the concern as it was written.

Just to touch on the food aggression side of things. Resource guarding, which can be food, toys, people, etc. is another very misunderstood behavior, which if done correctly at an early age can be greatly reduced, if not resolved. I can expand on this more if need be, but I tend to be long winded, as these types of issues are hard to address in a sentence or two.

I would be glad to offer as much help as I can. there are many different theories on this, and many will work, with a varying degree of success. Learning the differences will get you where you want to be much faster. I was a hasty in getting all this down, so if there is anything I can clarify, please let me know.

    Best of luck!

    Might as well update ,
I crated him for a period of time and as the weeks went by
    he re-adapted ,
I see some of what he liked with having a companion is gone
But now enjoys being the only dog , he is calm & has reestablished
his role as the only dog .
I have noticed any Female dog I had are as name
imply's - a Bitch (with all due respect)
He enjoys the freedom from her rule's .

I decided possibly on the smartest dog decision of all my Pit ownerships
thus far - - that was to resist the pull of another dog .
    I have him & thats all I need .
He's a great dog and getting better each month .
Wile I'll never say never I see him as my last
as if he live's to a ripe old age i'll be approaching
70 - - I am late 50's and feel young ahh gee what a thought
