As I finally open the library the first time in over 25 years I have been collecting information on subjects people want to dispute.

These are NOT my stories, so don't hate on the messenger!

I thought this forum could use some spicing up and thought I would share some of the information.

Red Boy by the person who owned him and the person who popularized them.

I have stated many times that Internet pedigree services and their information are not reliable.
It is always best to go directly to the source, the people who owned them or where they were registered by them.
Here is a paid Ad by those people in a magazine who allowed this information, which was owned by the oldest registry for the APBT.
Check the date and issue numbers.

Great post. Tells how Redboy was bred, but some believe he was bred differently.

And since Iron Mike mentioned it....i have seen peds that are on peds online that are wrong because the dog they have posted as the sire has been dead for over 9yrs and has not been bred off of the yard...

I'd prob say 25% of the peds on there are BS, if not more. I've heard tale of a lot of guys with dogs of unknown lineage building a ped on there to show the dog bred a certain way to try and con people into buying

Maybe so but no one can trump these two on what they know and wrote. No can dispute the people who owned them. If they don't know, no one does.
The thing is, no else was actually around the dog to know for sure. I don't buy into the rumor mill, If Bass and Marlow don't know, no one does!

Lester Hughes once said the only way to know how a dog is bred is to go out and win three or four or produce three or four. Then there is always some "sum-bitch" in the corner who knows how he is really bred. Or in so many words.

If this were 1978 it would really matter how he was really bred. Back then a person could actually breed to the actual dogs involved. To the only strain of Red Boy out there, Red Boy himself. But now, it really does not matter. The actual dogs involved, what the papers say and what was believed to be true are long gone. There are so many strains of Red Boy bred by so many different people for so many different reasons if Red Boy was half Red Bone coonhound it would not matter anymore.

The internet and the online sites are a double edged sword. They have the potential to be informative but are often used to mislead. If I had an account I could go in and make a pedigree for Red Boy bred to Molly Bee and that daughter then bred to Mayday and a son of that bred back to Honeybunch. That has to be taken into account on every pedigree on there. They are only as accurate as the creator makes them.

I believe most pedigrees are inaccurate. Across the board. The only way to know for sure is to make all the breedings yourself in 4-6-8 generations. Then you know. But even with that said a person has to start somewhere and that is always in question. S

Even today they are wrong. People will only tell what they want to know.
