Question regarding using a Spring Pole

My American Pitbull Terrrer is just over 3 years old "Male". I have seen that he does posses some drive it's taken me a lot of training to stop him from getting cats He still goes for them especially if I am not watching. So I used disc catching to change up his catch instincts.

I have been considering a spring pole but not sure if it's something he would do.
What is best way to get him wanting to grab hold of the rope? Way I see it is playing tug of war with any dog tells them it's okay to fight with his master. Buy a spring pole is something that he can do on his own without human interaction.

Just not sure he has that drive to be interested.
Any ideas/help on doing this would be great.

Made this by a spec on another webpage.If it looks wrong or to much like a noose let me know.Because it looks dangerous to my dog more than he would be to it.

Look for flirt pole on youtube and see differnt ways to build and use it...
Yours does look a bit dangerous, the chain is a little much...
A good start if he has prey drive is to tie your rope to a smaller rope or a nylon strap material works great...
Buy a five foot piece of electrical pvc conduit half inch wide and sch80 thickness is a stronger more flexable plastic...
Run a eight foot nylon strap throught the coduit and tie a knot tin the backside, hook up the bite rope or or hide...
A flirt pole is excellant way to dirrect prey drive and running your dog back anf forth luring them with the pole is great exersize, running the small rope through the coduit enables you to pull on it to help lure the dog, and when your tired hook the bite rope or hide on a another smaller piece of nylon to the spring and let them work themselves... a little of this exersize goes along way so go eazy, i personally eliminate in metal the dog might bite...
Now this can be a catch twenty two dirrecting this prey drive is good but becareful if any kids are playing with jumpropes etc.. as the dog might get exited and yank the kid around or worse yat bite thier hand... Dogs chasing cats is normal but dogs chasing kids jump roping is not...

There is too much metal close to the bite area if you have a natural jumper. If you decide to use a spring I would use something more durable than that. Any decent sized dog that takes to the springpole will straighten out those ends easily and it will be an injury waiting to happen.

 

Air chamber rubber is the best i found for spring effect .

 

I use tractor belts...last years
