Snow boots for pitties - what's your experience?

Discussion in 'Products & Equipment' started by Anna-n-Paul, Jan 5, 2015.

  1. Looking for the boots for my dogs and would like to hear your opinion on which one is good. Most of cheap ones look very unreliable, dogs just keep loosing them...

I think the same people who sell pittie parkas also sell pittie booties. gaydog.com should have all your needs.

Try a sled dog site. I use them for my pup..... Her pads haven't hardened yet and it's 10 degrees out right now. I made the mistake of wearing her pads out on frozen pavement. My grown dogs don't need them. Ymmv.

  13. Thanks Macho, I will
We have more or less -30 everyday and pits are not huskies so...

I Agree, you probably want to go check out Pit Bull Chat. Maybe a little more applicable resource for you.

  16. lol my knitting skills is just fine, but I need a function, not beauty, below -30 is really no fun, I wish those "smarties" here would go bare feet on -10 and enjoy :/

  17. Thank you, I'll check it out, although my dogs are not gays lol

Your dog don't need booties, its more of a personal preference of yours. I keep dogs outside in up to -40's in extreme years like last year and single digits to - 20 on any given typical year just fine by keeping an eye on their feet and ears and using vasoline on their paw pads a few times a week to keep them from chapping and cracking from the cold. They do just fine for not being huskies. They don't really stand out in the cold unless they are eating or emptying out. I'd worry about a very well built dog house over booties. ;) Jm2c. You won't find too many here that are going to give you much help on that subject. However our sister site www.pitbullchat.com would probally get you many more positive responses to your question than you'll get here. This tend to be a more hardened crowd usually around here than you'll find over there. lol Good luck either way you decide to go.
