Oh yeah, 100 percent agree here, she isn't allowed anywhere near visiting children!

And please make sure the visiting children know not to go near the dog.

Honestly, if there were no kids involved, I wouldn't be cringing right now. This is an accident waiting to happen.

I know her behavior is strange. She has been doing well the past few days on walks alone with me, actually meeting people happy and confident. I don't know how people go about their dogs, but I have been snapping back on a choke when this behavior starts and keeping myself very calm to show her there is no threat or need for aggression. I have always in the past used thick collars as I saw no good use for a choke.

I adopted a pitbull which was deemed unpredictable with people and dogs. I am not stating I am a dog trainer, but I believed in this dog. He would redirect at bite.grab my jeans when he an aggresive dog was around. He didnot have human aggression it was more a crime of pass ion when he redirected. What i did which we worked on for about a year, the second i noticed him about to go off i redirected his attention with food a toy and a great deal of praise. In time with a lot of practice and confidence building he understands not every dog is a threat though I know this behaviour can resurface if I push him to his limits The dog wants to please you praise his good behaviour discourage his bad behavoiur by redirecting him correcting , my situation is differnt from yours but my dog is 95 percent better ,but i know he has that twitch if i push him to his limits good luck this was my success story.

Thanks for this post. She is now able to walk with me around people without kicking off, maybe it is time to start using treats to praise her good behavior to keep it that way. I've spent a lot of time with her outside the front of the house keeping her calm when people walk past and giving her praise. Things are going well.

A friend of mines dog once bit down on my hand quite hard when he was around 9 months old. He then bit the dog on scruff of his neck! I think both methods work well.

Yes he is a bit of a moron for that! Considering his dog wasn't small, amstaff x dogue de Bordeaux, he could had lost his head!!

Anyway my girl is doing amazingly well. Been standing with her out the front of the house with a muzzle on. She doesn't bark or lunge now. Growling I don't mind, it's her way of telling me something's up. She's been out and about meeting people and letting strangers in the house provided I am with them.
