Well, its time to let my old girl go.
I almost put her down a couple of months ago. She could barley walk and then on the day I was thinking about doing it, she wanted to play fetch and I took her for a walk. Bull dogs!!! I think part of her will to live came from all of the pie and chocolate I started feeding her LOL. They are ALL heart. So she is 14 yrs old and has cancer.

Ol' Cypress is by my feet right now.
    ADBA_magnet with Humboldt Pit Bulls.jpg Film1.JPG Cypress3animate.JPG 185.jpg
-Her pups that were shown at the ADBA did great
-Her pups were on the Summer 2003 ADBA Gazette
-Her pups were used for CA "First Five" commercial on TV to promote the well being on children their first 5 years.
-A photo "Cypress At The Salmon" was in a art exhibit in Eureka CA. The photo did not win the contest, however the breed won. I was there in the fancy setting to explain the photo (one lady asked, where is the Cypress tree? - The dog is named Cypress I explained LOL)
-Cypress and her pups were the only photo used at the 2003 ADBA Convention in LasVegas.
-She just nursed her grand-pups with milk at 14 years of age! It was right before she went straight down hill. She wanted to give one last thing (she has not nursed pups in 2 + years)
-I could probably think of more

Most importantly, she was/is one hell of a nanny dog. She plays/protects kids to no end. Cypress has a pup named Pandora who tried to nurse a baby boy! So the kind heart (she is game bred as well) will live on to continue to make the world a better place.

    CYPRESS, YOU ROCK!

I have a peanut butter pie to pick up tomorrow at noon for her. And then, ..... I am kind of surprised I out lived her. I always new this day would come. The last extra 2 months with her have been super. Myself and all her family have enjoyed every second.:vovvetliten:

    Thanks for reading.

Thanks Old Goat. She has been waging her tail and going for walks. Two days ago, she was not able to do a walk, so I know its time. She/we are ready.

for the 2003 Calendar Magnet that was handed out to people who went to the convention (the first photo).

I wish you the best Back2basics (and thanks).
I tend to tell people in this situation, "if you were to go first, I am sure the dog would miss you just as much". As well, the only reason why the loss is so great, is because they give so much to the world.

    Thank you! Very lucky.
    I live in Northern CA.
The first trip to the vet with Cypress there was an older Indian Gal in the waiting room.
She loved my Cypress. Well, this lady has 30 acres in gold country and they just struck a huge gold vain. She had a wad of cash and pulled out a piece of gold from her mine as long as a human forearm (at certain points, it was as skinny as a pencil, but it was HUGE).
The lady asked to buy my Cypress. I bet she just would have given me the piece of gold she had on her. I respectfully declined her offer. Cypress has been worth her weight in gold since she was a puppy.:o

It always sucks to see them go. Living in the NorCal woods is about as good as it can get, especially for a dog, so I reckon she had fun during her time here. Best wishes to you for the holidays, and good luck with your other dogs.

Hope you and your fam get through this rough time partner. I know there's no other place I'd rather live my entire life then in hum so she lived the life. Take care!

    Hello everyone.
Thank you for all of the kind and supportive words.

Cypress is in the spirit realm.
She lived a very full life. Cypress was eating puppy food with the pups on her final day while here physically. She had almost a whole peanut butter pie to herself. My most hard core bitch, American Grit, stayed with me while I had an at home euthanasia.

I told Cypress she was going to see her hubby Chisel who she adored. Chisel has already passes and is pictured here with a prego Cypress. Cypress-and-Chisel.jpg
Cypress did a big ol' "shake of recognition" (like when you tell a dog that they are good and they do a big shake).

It could not have been more smooth. After she passed (in the warm truck w/ American Grit and myself), I let the dogs in to see her (and have a bite or two of pie). My dogs are house dogs and I did not want them to wonder about her (even though they knew she was on her way out).

I held her paw the whole time.
She was snoring loud before the final injection. I am happy about that.
Cypress was loving, protective (not to much so) and ornery to the end.

Cypress will be with me forever. Her offspring are, right now, helping people "live in the moment". That is what out breed does best. They set an example of how to endure and live life to the fullest.

  19. Cypress rocked!
