Noob drawings during class... and a few questions about feeding.

Hello Guys, Im new to this forum and have been studying about APBT, currently my puppy turns into his 5th mo and I feed him merrick grain free dog food along with RF-1, He is able to eat up to 3-3.5 cups plus 1.5 scoops of RF-1, I know most dogs are hungry all the time and will eat if there is something to eat, but I don't know if my dog (Virgil) really needs that much... I cut his food to 2 cups (in 3 meals) and 1.5scoop RF1, anyone can offer some opinions on this puppy !

Sorry I can't speak or write good English, just trying to make my point clear... I know it really depends on individual dogs instead of food bag guidelines but the bag says for a 50LB dog 2cups-2.5 are enough.. I mean, Virgil is 30ish pounds so that is wayyyy off the suggestion.. its wayy off as the human body proportion in my noob drawing, plus currently on the 2 cups + 1.5scoop rf1 diet, he sniffs around for food very often (while indoor and outdoor, walk or play)

 

Does he look skinny? Feed him more and if he gains weight, cut him back. You'll find the balance eventually. No guidlines to feeding, just feed and watch their weight. I'm not sure about the RF-1, I thought it was a suppliment mostly used for conditioning.

thanks for helpful info! I always think that the guide line must be somewhat base on reality so when Virgil is eating that much more than that I started to worry lol.. I think RF-1 is kinda like doggie-Truemass :p

 

Thank you! Virgil is healthy just the thing is I can hardly see his waistline and I see most apbt in this forum has a very thin waist and I really like that (the curve from waist to chest is very amazing).. am I too early to worry about that?

BTW the dog in the drawing actually is from a pic of Chiemra's Chief I found from google, in case the owner won't like me to post without saying that is he

I wouldn't worry about your puppies waisteline right now. Would you worry about a 5 or 6 year old child's physical appearance? They are still growing. Take it real easy on the pup.

My pups from the time they start eating solid food till 12 months are on puppy food with nothing added more than a multi vitamin 3-4 times a week. They eat when ever they want, I don't put them on a scheduled feeding of a certain amount. This is just me and this goes on till they are 12 months. They maintain a healthy weight at all times which is chunky and I slim them down afterwards.
As for RF-1, Boogie can probably tell you more about it but I don't wouldn't feed it to them unless they were being conditioned.

 

I dont see a prob with feeding rf-1, no harm if u can afford it. It is prolly an overkill at those doses given daily but what do i know.
