preventing a dog fight at a park.

So I take my dog to our local park and we do have leash laws but there is always this guy with his pitbull and he keeps him loose. Luckily nothing has happened yet and his dog seems friendly but my dog reacts to other dogs differently so I never know what to expect so I try to keep him away from dogs who are too hyper or jumpy. Ive tried calling the police since his dog is not on a leash but they never do anything about it. Ive tried to warn him about how my dog wont react nicely to his dog but he just tries to instigate a dog fight by saying his dog will beat mine which is very immature. So my question is how can I stop the dog fight if it actually happens, and what are the chances of my dog "winning" against him. His dog is a pitbull breed but I doubt it is pure or game. My dog is quite fit, more than his no doubt. I have yet to see a real american pitbull terrier where I live, not saying mine is pure, but he is not a bully.

The answer to your problem is simple DON'T TAKE YOUR DOG TO A PUBLIC PARK!

Don't get any simpler than that...

Best way not to have a dogfight at a dog park is not to be at a dog park.Worst place ever to take a dog of any breed,full of idiots,filth and parasites,none of which is good for your dog. Answer to the question of which dog will win regarding a fight in public is they both loose.

Young muscle and gh32 said it best. Id like to add, owning this breed comes with responsibility...Such as not taking you dog to the dog park. That is one of many sacrifices you choose when deciding to own one of these amazing animals. That is a classic reason why this breed is condemned today. Ignorance in a multitude of ways, immaturity and irresponsible owners.
