Full brother/sister breeding, has anyone tried?

Has any tried full brother/sister breeding? HOw are the results? I will be extremely interested to hear. I am contemplating buying puppies from this breeding. Though, I have read many negative effects of inbreeding, so I would love to hear you guys.

It would depend primarily on the two dogs behind them and how the were bred.

 

I've done it last year. They are still young under a year. No health problems at this time. All act pretty good. They are very headstrong and loud. Only time will tell.

First you must ask yourself why your doing the breeding?

 

i personally wouldnt do no shit like that maybe half but not full like same mama diff dad would be ok.

 

I bought a very very good bitch from a full bro/sis breeding. But out of 7 in the litter she is the only one left alive, her brother made the grade but was poisoned I believe, everything else didnt make the cut from what I was told by the breeder.

 

Contemplating a bro/sis breeding myself.Sire to them was 11yrs old but hes gone now. Bro & sis are a year old and showing good signs. Also the outs they already have keep them from being to tight. So who knows maybe a year or two down the line I may give it a try.

 

Like was said in the first reply, it depends entirely on the dogs themselves and the reasoning behind it. Ask the breeder why and let us know.

The breeder told me he wants to preserve quality of the sire to the brother and sister. Their sire died a few years ago.

From what I am hearing so far, there seem to be more bad coming out of the full bro/sis breeding than good.

I am just worried about the temperament, and health problem of the offspring.

 

If a man maintained a family for a while, doing a brother x sis mating might bring some defects or dogs with low immunity. However if the brother x sis comes from a cross breeding (eg Bolio x Eli or Redboy x Jocko) as a first outcross then chances are that you might get very good individuals with high ability.
Some families can also be inbred with no side effects or loss of vitality, whilst other families shows webbed feet, cripple rear end etc with the first attempt at inbreeding.
Some will work and others not, but chances are that they'll make better breeding stock for outcrossing than high performance dogs.

Just like every other breeding have a reason to do it that makes sense and if u like the reason there's only one way to find out what will happen! In the full bro/sis breeding I wld making sure they are not already too inbred before you inbreed again . Too much of anything can be bad.

 

my dog is full brother sister breeding ! he had his share or ups and downs... some really good qualities and some really bad ones....

 

It depends on the quality on dogs used, on the level of inbreeding that those dogs already have and the goal should be clean up the gene pool out of hidden undesired traits. So be ready to cull, if you are lucky you'll get a few really good dogs that represent the blood and his trait. Even in the best cases some dogs might carry inbreeding depression faults that should be evaluated... if everything lines up you should end with good producers.

 

Well do both the siblibling exhibit traits more toward the sire or the dam? Was there any serious health issues or temperament issues in the dogs before them.

 

I bred a dog to a full brother sister bred dog. He looked and acted just fine.

 

a mother to son or father to daughter is actually tighter than brother to sister. depending on how there bred bro to sis may not

So you want to buy puppies from someone but you have read many effects of inbreeding? HMMMM Sounds like you need a whole different breed if you thinking about the defects of inbreeding. Let the breeders breed. Temperament and health issue? You do not need to buy any dog, you need to sit on the computer and read way more than you have if this is even taking up your time and thoughts. These people are not going to be real with you, you need to do way more reading and pedigree research.
