figured you all might like this, this was my boy's gorge meal before we went out of town for the weekend (we just got back, had a friend feed him yesterday for me)

then I left him to it, he ate about a 4th of the head, and 2 lbs of ground deer, I have to look for the head in the morning since it wasn't on the porch when I got home and checked on him.

Pigs can carry the trichinosis parasite. Back in the olden day pigs were fed slop and kept in very unsanitary conditions, there slop was usually contaminated with rodent feces and worms etc... thats why many pigs before had trich.

Now days most pigs are grain fed and kept in more sanitary conditions so our farm raised pigs now are almost all trich free.

You can kill the Trich parasite by cooking the meat.

yes that is a pigs head

thanks jacko, that is really fast, I think it took Goren 15 minutes to eat his fill which was about to the bone on the jowl.

pork is fine for a raw fed dog (I don't know how the richness would do with a dog that doesn't normally get raw) and yea Trichinosis is in hogs in some areas and also in wild rabbits in some areas but its very rare in the US in farm raised animals

The main Trich worms that would be found in pork are killed with freezing.. Gunner would have a blast with that thing.. I may need to see where i can get one.

oh I bet he would, ask the butcher, my overpriced butcher slauters the animals there so has the heads and everything (but tripe for some reason) out for sale

Starting to incorperate raw venison into my dogs diet. Anyone know if the deer eating mainly corn will hurt anything?
I'm guessing there will be no issues because the deer already processed the grain, and as long as there is no tainted meat, it will be wonderful for them.
    Lets hear it yall?
I'll let you know as soon as I see what it does for me.

it should be ok, in my neck of the woods that is about all the wild deer have in the fields to eat (I mean they eat other things but corn is a big one that they eat out here too) my boy is very allergic to corn, his coat even suffers at harvest time due to all the corn dust but he doesn't have any effect to the venison I feed (that is what the block of meat next to the head was haha)
