    Hello,

I am new to the boar and use mainly jeep and skull bred dogs for catch work, but I just got offered a TNT Dog. Now I have used a couple in the past, that were friends and they were nice dogs, but I just wanted to know how many of you all have had experience with this line. Thank you in advance for your time.

    Hi Jhy...

I don't have a lifetime exp with this line but I did own something off the TNT bloodline she was a nice dog but one dog is not enough for me to say wether I like the line or not but I chose to go another direction in dogs. I can say that with everything quality will vary depending on where you are getting it from who bred the dog and why... there are some good people breeding these dogs that do well with it. I have seen a bunch of guys do well with these dogs on the WP tracks. Here is a thread that may or may not help you but it's worth a read

I have a TNT/Lar-San dog who was an above average puller and also and above average catch dog.

I appreciate it fellas, and of course you are right about each breeder and individual dogs. I am getting some from a fella named Robert Craig out of TN and I am going with a longer legged dog for catch work. I do catch a good bit of hogs (361) this year with dogs and it is definitely a heavy work load for any dog and I prefer my dogs to have Brains, Heart, Wind and Speed in that order of importance. I have seen the ones my buddy has do extremely well, but that is only a few and just wanted some more input. From what I have seen they do posses a great temperment and tremendous athletic ability but I have not seen many that are closer to catch wieght, but most well bred true pits are not going to exceed 55-60lbs conditioned weight at best. I used to raise bulldogs, but due to room, money and time I have to focus completely on my cur dog (hunting dog) program to stay on top of the hogs. Now I look to breeeders of bulldogs that have something that is close to what I need to work in the woods.

Robert Craig is one of the top TNT breeders in TN... IDK about his hounds doing the hogs but he has some of the top weight pull dogs in the country... Good luck..

The blood he has is the same as my buddy has, but also some different outcrosses and that is how I am coming across the dog. My buddies dogs are nice but I am hoping to get one with a bit more bone and leg. I prefer a black bulldog, but will probably get a blue one, but I dont look a gift horse in the mouth. Just have to take it and see what it can do and if I like it I will feed it, but I am starting to think that it will more than likely workout pretty good. I do like to pull my triplets around with my bulldog in their Jogging stroller to condition dog and help out with getting the kids around the neighborhood, so a pulling dog will be useful also.

  7. That ol' boy sure as hell does have some dogs that will pull!! A lot of pull dogs are only as good as their trainer/handler though so if you don't know jack about pulling you may very well have your work cut out for you.

I used compete in Iron Dog events, protection work and conformation with ABs, but I use pits and AB x Dogo crosses for catch work, which is what I enjoy and do at least once a week. My dogs are used for federal wildlife projects, state and private hog removal in my free time. I have titled dogs in many venues, but I don't think I will be getting into weight pulling for any other reason than conditioning and recreation. Not knocking the venue but it just doesn't excite me, but you are right. A dog can be trained to do it by the best, but if the handler doesn't know what he is doing the dog is only as good as the handler.
