I live in the uk, my 10 month old pit Brinx has been seized by police.

Brinx was seized by police 3 weeks ago, as someone phone police to say I had a pitbull living with us. He's never hurt anyone or done anything wrong. I have now got to wait for a court date, to see if he can be put on exempt list. My son has a minor criminal record, what are my chances of getting him back .........

well what do you expect apbts are banned in the uk...

 

you would need to get good legal advice but the focus should be on his temperment and thats what you would need to argue they will want to push that its an illegal breed and look to destroy him. you would need to get him neutered, muzzled when in public and kept on the lead and also have a high insurance premium for him and this will also depend on your own charachter and personal circumstances

Contact DDA Watch,they will help you,even if your dog fits the Type,some do get returned with restrictions,it can take over a year and longer incases,So get advice now.

Do you have photo of your dog and an idea of it's size & weight? And what area was the dog seized?

As billy said ask dda watch for advice and a brief they recommend. Sadly your guilty until you show the court's he is not a type. Temperament evidence is usually ignored by the court's. But if you can show them your a responsible owner they'll often let you have your dog back and put on the exempt list without a trial, as a trial cost's money. And don't sign your dog over if asked as they'll put him down before the ink is dry. Make sure you get a brief that's experianced in dda cases.

If no one kept them and gave in to BSL or the DDA. There would be no point in fighting the legislation as it stand's. If there were none the RSPCA's focus would soon turn to getting the Stafford and other breed's they don't like outlawed.

 

Try doglaw.co.uk its a solicitors web site, they offer some free advise so it might be worth a call.
