I adopted a dog from the shelter about six months ago and everyone in the family has gotten close to her even my dad and he never liked the idea of getting her in the first place then she ate his hot tub cover thats like 400 dollars so he told me I had to get rid of her but I know he doesnt want to but hes getting a new one soon and he doesnt want her to eat it I have a chain for her outside for when im not there but shes usually inside but my little brothers and sister let her out sometimes without putting her on the chain so i was thinking about maybe getting a shock collar for keeping them contained and burying them all around the hot tub would this work? or can you think of another way to make sure she wont eat it so i can keep her?

  2. It's called being responsible.

Well I when Im at work my younger brothers will let her out for a few seconds and forget about her so shell get bored and eat stuff. Its not like its a problem my dad just doesnt want to take a chance so I would need something to make sure it wont happen. Because I would rather not get rid of her.

see thats why there needs to be an age range on the owners of these dogs. is it your dog? put the damn dog in a kennel while your at work and lock it up. dont depend on your brothers and sisters and mom and dad to take care of your dog while your away. you put the dog in the kennel at all times if your not home even if you leave the house for 10minutes. you take the dog out the kennel when you come home. its your dog not the family dog it sounds like. take care of your shit. your pops would appreciate the dog a whole lot better if you took more responsibility towards your animal.

Tell him to leave your damn dog alone, put it in a kennel and lock it while your at work.

  6. Right on! Exactly what I said in one sentence. Stupid irresponsible kids = kids don't fuck with the dog! It's not rocket science. Dogs not out = don't don't chew shit up.

Your not going to get a better answer than this, if you can't be responsible for your hound then give it to somebody who knows how too!

Ahahaha....oh what dogs will will eat. In just the last month I lost one shoe, to a pair that cost me $80. A brand new quilt was eviscerated to a gigantic pile of white fluff. Socks are no longer pairs, so I no longer wear matched socks, unless they're new.

And, hmmm, a whole bag of marshmallows, bread, potato chips and potatoes, along with part of their bags, gone...I've had wooden French doors used as a puppy teething toy, and my bedroom end tables shredded.

Build a fence, get a great vet, have a sense of humor. These things are replaceable.

If you have a tenacious ass APBt in the house you are going to get things eaten and thats the truth of the matter

Okay well it is a family dog, I wanted her mostly but she listens to everyone and isnt a problem. All i wanted was a simple answer to know if there way to let her be outside knowing that she cant get the cover because shell just play if we go stand out there with her. We have a eight foot fence surrounding the yard that we got so that she could be outside to do her business without us there cause shell just want to play. I know that shes gonna tear shit up, and everyones fine with it we just dont want her to get the cover.

LOL I have one who would eat his damn crate pissed me off to no end went through 3 different ones before I upgraded to the big kahuna. Had to shovel out a bunch of money to make sure his ass couldn't get out while I wasn't home as not only do I not want to come home to a dead dog or a dog who's eaten up my whole house I also don't want any knocked up dogs that I didn't plan on breeding. But it's part of owning dogs they are not people and you can't talk to them and tell them what to do while you are gone so you have to make it work. I would crate or kennel the dog while I wasn't home like hard luck said this is your responsibility own it your family will be much happier and so will your dog. Good Luck to you!

The simplest answer I can give you is to chain her up when you're gone and tell everyone to leave her alone. Dogs get into things and tears things up,it's our jobs to keep them out of trouble the best we can but these things happen. But if she's chained up,she won't get that cover.

If she is not use to a chain then put her in a kennel

I've got a chain for her. I just feel bad cause half the time she just stands there waiting for me to get back. My dad said he didnt want to take a chance of her tearing the new cover up though so he wanted me to get rid of her. So I wanted to find a way to make sure it didnt happen and like show him it cant happen but no matter how responsible I am with her I can be home with her and she just roams the house the younger kids are used to our chiuaua and just letting her out when she stands by the door so theres always a chance she can get out so Ill just have to get rid of her. Thank you to everyone who replied.

well make sure she finds a responsible home this next time and that will be the most responsible thing you could have done by her because the way it seems now you aren't mature enough for her and she deserves better

  20. Fine example of somebody who put absolutely no thought into acquiring a dog. :( In the end it's always the dog that pays the price. :(
