In the isles, the studs are still picked by their skills in "pechadas" and guardian skills. Hope this helps.

What most people cannot understand, is that one day this breed was a local dog by few fanciers in remote area in Spain, but with lots of influence from outside traditions. There are people preserving this breed, but things have changed and the % is even lower than 10 years ago.. and thats a small % compared to 20 years ago.

I cant talk from personal experience with the Presa Canarios, but i know the Majoreros with first hand info, and those are being breed and keep for many generations as working dogs, natural guardian dogs and i respect very much what the old people did, in fact, i've seen with my eyes majoreros guarding livestock atack our 4x4 car, just because we entered in his territory by mistake.

Those are lonely dogs that protect very big propiertys, old timers told me two majoreros would fight until the sun would fall and return quick to propierty when their owners would come after 14 hours working outside there. I've seen majoreros plenty of scars and with rabbit corpses next to puppys.

I know canarians like to exaggerate a lil bit, but those facts are there and made me respect very much the Majorero dog.

To be honest, i like very much working breeds, any kind.... Majorero dog has no demand in market, so its not peddled so in the future i hope to get more info about old timers... just waiting on my chance :)

PS: About those Alanos in the picture. If i remember right, thats was in 90'. You know, Spanish goverment gave money into this program to recreate the Alano, they knoked many doors, included a famous breeder of APBT's in Spain but they ended using boxer and dogo argentino dogs.. and failed. If you do a good research on Villano de las encartaciones, you'll see them catching cattle and as a guardian.

    - i would say longer than that, we cannot forget that the influence of other breeds and coutries cultures is what help mold the "presa canario"

    - I know good majoreros from 1st hand experience and wouldn mind feeding a good one, and yes they are feisty dogs that arent too friendly

    - every culture has people who like to blow things out of proportion, but i'm with you, i will get a good majorero dog over few Spanish breeds

    - i hope it stays that way, i will attach a pic of a majorero dog (or mainly of majorero blood) a friend owns in Gran Canaria.

You do understand the old school boxer was nothing like the dogs we have now right ? Also, the boxer is traced back to the bullenbaisers which goes back to the alaunt. The dogo was based off the perro the cordoba which was another Alano deviation bred for the pit. I suspect little apbt being bred to reconstruct the Alano since dog Agression is a serious fault and would not allow them to be used in their original purpose.

Here in germany there is a verry good breeder:

I like his dogs a lot! Take a look!
    Unsere Rüden = Studs
    Unsere Hündinnen = Bitches

    This are real Presa Canarios.

www.dogocanarioholanda.nl go to links. www.ironpresskennels.com call him up Mister Nate Rogers or get in contact with Mister Randy Green from D&G kennels USA for more info about these AWESOME PERROS!!
I alreday did post a link to the DCCA so if you want to talk with the one that know go pay that forum a visit. There isnt any blue or black in this breed anyone tells you different is a nuttcase!
You find them atleat most of them on facebook, it isnt that hard.
Yes I did visit the Islas Canarias and Breeders in España like Casa del Presa in Rubi, to learn about the real deal Presa!

Goodluck if you want a Guarddog like this one on your yard. I have 4 so all bulldogs are safe LOL!!!

Casa del Presa sells dogo and not presa . Fermin ( the owner ) is an old person and he has sold a lot of dogo with health problem ( HP dysplasia , leishmaniasis ) and false pedigree. He couldn't give any good advice ! He has the worst reputation in Spain !

Casa del Presa sells dogo and not presa .LOL!!!!
Let me tell you one thing that happened at his yard in the Canyon he got fucked by that fly so a lot of his dogs died they did the best they good do. Dont tell bad things about his rep buddy, because most of the Criadores con España still work very close to Señor Fermin and his Familia.

If you want to believe that there are two different breeds thats your cup of coffeee!! There's even a so called DR. Carl something that wrote a book about this breed that is best used to wipe you ass of!!

The FCI wanted the real name to change into Dogo Canario because Presa means Catch!!!!

  13. all4them

    all4them Pup

I'm agree with you and a lot of them sell bad dogs with deseases....no x-ray, false pedigree, leishmaniasis etc... All french breeders have Casa del presa bloodlines on their dogs and no one want to continue to work with him ! I visit his yard and it's a pity
Ask Canarian Island presa breeders about him or about dogo "breeders/sellers from Peninsula" and you will have your response !

I'm sorry but FCI ruins every breed out there, and Dogo Canario is the new trademark. The FCI recognition is "recently", time will prove everything.

The first's Amstaff registered, most of them dual registered as APBT's were good dogs, but look how it went and specially in the last two decades.

Dogo Canario will be the new amstaff. The main problem are not breeders or dogs, its FCI and their way of ruining breeds.

  15. all4them

You're right but some breeders are guilty too !
When a bloodline is bad ( dysplasia ) , why they continue to breed them and sell puppies with problem ?
When a breed has a lot of problem with this desease why they continue to breed bad dogs ?
Why do they continue to give false pedigree and false breeding with the protection of the RSCE ?
I'm sorry Pirbul , you're right about FCI but the problem is also from some breeders ...I could put name here but it's not the subject !
The perro de presa is a really good dog but the breed is an endangered breed because bad breeders don't selective breeding and are just interestd for money !
You couldn't sell a pup when he has dysplasia but for them it's $1500 less ....and easy to sell to a stranger who live far away

They dont adverstise but If you look up J7's Cruz he is a nice dog. If you go to the Presa Board you can talk to them. I really like the way their dogs are built.

David Fitness... only the Wannabe dogs called "filas" that follow the FCI standard...the original is still available under the CAFIB standard and always will be. FCI is a joke and just like the AKC they destroy breeds.
