IMHO, she looks good if you are trying to peak her for some type of sporting event or just conditioning her to learn about conditioning, but I wouldn't keep a dog this lean year round. I say that based upon the number of ribs visible (unless the dog is just at full chest expansion while breathing). If they stay too lean too long, a dog will use protein as an energy source. This is as lean as I would go for a long term keep...(I hope you don't mind my comments). Nice dog though.

she's at a show . her dog is not to thin . you don't know what your talking about . and your dog is fat . in the heat you will loose yours first .

As I mentioned, if the dog in the above photos was in a conditioned state...fine...but I wouldn't keep that dog that lean year round. The reason I stated my post was a matter of performance. If you hadn't noticed...the lady in the photo above is wearing long sleeves and blue jeans...which means it isn't too hot there...and yet the dog is gasping.

Meanwhile the dog I posted lived in MS the time that photo was made...and worked in 100 degree weather regularly without showing signs of running hot and did so on a REGULAR basis. He is not in a conditioned state in those photos. That is how he is kept year round. Regardless...best wishes. It's a free world (to some degree), so take my comments or leave them. It is your (and her) choice. Take care...no hard feelings here.

But hey...you're welcome to ignore my comments.

BTW, the man doing the decoy work ended up collapsing that day while working another dog due to the heat. I have it on video if you doubt it.

My point is for LONG TERM keeps...both too fat and too lean can lead to problems. I don't believe a dog should be kept at EITHER couch weight or show weight...instead, I think a good fit general weight is ideal for long term keep...and then one can peak their dog appropriately on a need be basis. You don't want to peak too soon for that will cost strength, endurance, and performance...and for this very same reason you don't want to keep a dog too lean year round. That said, a dog should NOT be kept fat either.

Enough said. I made my point. You can let me know if you want to see the video of the guy collapsing or not. I don't wish to beat a dead horse or argue with anyone. I said what I wanted to say. Take it or leave it. Peace...

and both the guys in the pics are alittle fat . you think you can take the heat longer than a dog . that's not how it works . your dog looks muscled up but it's fat . and that's not healthy . they will live a longer life staying lean . and the dogs in europe . you ever been there . it can be hot then cold then raining and then hot again in 1 day . why are you using a bulldog for bite work ? that's should be a golden rule never to do .
