Just Got My First Pitbull Today!! :)

I rescued her from the shelter today. Shes a cur but still cute and didnt deserve to die cause of her breed. Shes 45lbs and probably 8 or 9 months old. she still has a little baby fat.. What do you guys think?

Yeah I will! She looks like her previous owner was good to her. Like her nails are recently trimmed and shes clean. But anything that even looks like a pit wont last more then four days in there. But they let me get her cause ive been doing community service for a while.

 

good job on getting her. why call her a cur though? im not sure if you know what that means lol. im sure she is a real sweaty... way to be a rescuer, now dont turn into a PETA head on us lol. jp

I call her a cur because she wasnt game bred, and probably isnt full blooded, shes submissive and would cur out the first few mins probably, shes not da at all I think she mightve got beat cause of how timid she is, shes still a good dog though. She can fetch and bring the ball back better then my moms golden retriever lol..

She is gorgeous. Its so great that you decided to choose to rescue. I used to work at a shelter, just quit last week as a matter of fact, because it was and is horrible. Congrats!

Yeah shelters are horrible.. I just said rescued because you cant actually adopt pitbulls from our shelter so they dont really put it on paper so i just paid for shots and heartworm tests and just took her so they didnt have to kill her like the other three pitbulls there today..

 

I worked at a shelter once and it made my stomach turn. Pitbulls had no chance without me there. Had to quit, that gas chamber was too much.

You´ve done a good thing!
So try to build up her confidence and get the best out of her.
No need to be a gamebred or even a purebred aslong as you and her get together well everything isw just fine.

Yeah we dont have a gas chamber they just use shots but its just as bad.. Idk whats shes mixed with its probably just some kind of hound she has saggy lips and stuff. She doesnt look to far from being purebred. Shes not spayed yet Im suppose to do it like within thirty days since I got her from the shelter.

 

How did you get the shelter to adopt her out to you if they usually euthanize them?

 

Awwww........ she's a cutie. I'd bet ya she's more of an Am staff cross with that color. She looks like she's blue fawn like my girl CoCo which is more common in Am Staffs than APBT's.

 

Love those toy driven dogs! My CoCo is a NUT for fetch. Easiest dog ever to condition! lol
