  2. We don't register our dogs and haven't for about a decade now. But we are not in the business of selling dogs so we don't need some corporation in another country to tell us how we bred our dogs. However, our dogs are all descendants from dogs that did carry a registration with the adba.

If you trust that the man who you got your dog from is an honest person then those handwritten peds are worth a thousand corporate printed ones and I would trust that pedigree more than any other I had. Also, that dog of yours sure does look the part, he is showing his breeding and that is a very good sign.

The only problem I can forsee with those peds is if you plan on entering him in some of those doggy beauty peagents that require that your dog give a "donation" (be registered) to the registry first.

Hand written is the only way to go unless you want to participate in sanctioned events or sell puppies. I trust the peds from the men I've gotten dogs from more than I would trust an adba reg anyway. Lol. None of them are 100%

Nothing wrong with a hand-written as long as u get it from a trustworthy breeder and how do you think dogman of the past kept track of breedings? With hand-written peds of course

i'd trust the O'l man before i trust the adba. if a fella wanted to go to dogshow that bad there's plenty of cheap papers in the bargain trader or creagslist.

Lou Colby (R.I.P) provided me with a partial hand written pedigree for my pup as a (keepsake) with the pup I bought from him last year. I think he may have done it with the last two litters he had. I framed it, hanging in my den.

I knew a man who recieved a dog from a well know breeder and the breeder sent him a hand written ped. The breeder turned around and posted on this forum that a dog in that ped was not bred the way he wrote it. No matter if it is reg'ed with a registry or written by the hands who did the breeding. Bottom line, whether you trust a person or not, unless you seen the breeding, you can only hope that is how your dog is bred.

It all comes down to TRUST regardless if you SEEN the breeding or not, how would you even know if the sire and dam are bred the way he says if you dont TRUST him? Unless you've seen every single breeding in his ped done with your own eyes, the only thing you have to go on is trust.

I bred my registered male to an unregistered female. I knew his line was good dogs and didn't really care about how they were bred. Breeding worked out nice and people still wanted it.

  15. A pedigree hand written or otherwise is only as good as the person whom wrote it.
