Vegetables / fruits in a RAW diet. What are you using?

My main base is carrots (main base) 2 to 1, collard greens and celery. I also use beets and garlic as a little additive. I use bananas or apples once every couple of weeks for something different, dogs like it. I also blend all my veggies for the dogs, they digest easier imo and never leave any in the bowl. What are you using?

The gerber baby veggie work good for me since some of us don't have gardens lol. I have seen noticeably results from carrots

if you dont know what a raw diet is for, you should not give any advice on the subject.

back on topic- apples and carrots are the staples here. blended or cut up. added to your meat, topped of with a dollop of yogurt

Looks good rallyracer. I blend mine like that too, I ended up adding in sweet potatos here recently, thank god I right down everything I have learned over the years to go back.

I use a wide selection of fruits and veggies...RAW meat, 15% of their diet is organ meat, fruits I use blue berries, apples, pumpkin (is pumpkin fruit?..lol) banana..Veggies I use a wide mass of things. Greens collards, turnip or mixed, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, greenbeans (for filler purposes only they really have not nutritional value)

Other things I use is raw eggs shell and all, yogurt, flax and coconut oil

If I am doing hard workouts I feed morning and evening the morning feeding consist of mostly fat/oil based feed
    1 slice of salmon
    Flax
    Coconut oil
a few berries or other fruit

Evening meal is always about 1 hour after a workout and rub down I feed my proteins then
Chicken mostly but I do have days I feed other meat and I am getting ready too add green tripe
Raw egg every other day or so
    Yogurt
3 days a week they get organ meat in the mix, right now we are using kidney because we got it on sale for 20 cents a LB so we got like 15lbs of it
1/2 cup if green veggie mix and a 1/4 cup of orange or yellow veggie mix

In the winter months when I want to add a little weight I add brown rice

Food looks just like what i feed. I use a cup of TOTW - use high Range, prairie, and wetland, alternating the flavor. I also suppliment in Fish oil, Seargent's pet vitamins, to insure suppliment.
Have used white rice, want to try the brown. Glad to see more either using raw, or reasearching it...I assure you, you are going down the right path for a happy dog, that eats less. Less poop to scoop too.
It makes me happy to see people talking about diets, and researching RAW.

this is a base line basic raw diet....the percentages are accurate but the total amounts will be determined by the individual dog....
it is a 60/40 split....60% meats and 40% veggie.....multiply the dogs weight times 16 for total ounces....multiply total ounces times 2% (.02)..2% of body weight is approximate amount to feed....multiply total ounces times 60% (.60) for meat amount and by 40% (.40) for veggie amount.....some dogs may need 3% of their weight while others will need less...if it is a active high drive always on the go dog he/she could need more....if it is a lay around dog the feed will be less...
i use mostly chicken as a meat...a lot of quarters and a lot of backs....quarters when on sale and backs are cheap pretty much all the time....i pick up a scrap meat box from a local butcher here and there also....this time of year i get a lot of deer meat.....
for veggies i use a juicer....i drink the juice and feed the pulps to the dogs....i juice just about anything...apples and oranges are my favorites but i do tomatoes, and various greens....sort of a double for the money deal.. i get the juice they get the veggie....i mix the pulp in with livers or beef scraps and they eat it all....i toss the quarter or back right on top a lot like the picture above....some days it is straight meats...especially if in time constraints....
there is less shit to clean up after going raw and the water intake falls way off....the dogs themselves get a little easier to clean up and water after going raw....
the kicker, although raw is somewhat cheaper than high end dog food it is far more time consuming....there are short cuts such as making a big batch and pre packaging it, or making a weeks worth for quicker feeding....but no matter how you go about it the raw way is time consuming....most that switch to it in a ball of fire are back on the bag food within a few months....i have been back and forth over the years myself....usually depending on the number of dogs....what i am working or maintaining....i believe the raw is the better way to go if the time issue does not make it less worthwhile....US1

  14. No fruits or veggies here. Only if they are left over from Dinner or something. Or when I make a fruit smoothie I give him some

I abide by the 80-10-10 rule. 80% meat, 10% bone, 10% organs. Although my bone is a little higher.

I use chicken quarters as a base but also feed chicken hearts, gizzards, liver. I got a bunch of talapia fillets for free. Next week I am getting free lamb.

There are 2 schools of thought on raw feeding. barf and prey model. prey model says no veggies and the ratios should resemble a small animal. In barf there are fruits and veggies and more bone. I subscribe to the prey model mostly but not 100%
