hello i help this guy conditioning and breeding we had a small litter 2 weeks ago the eyes started opening 1 of the pups has a eye thet won't open i tryed to spread it a little but could not see anything seems like the eye lid are together and i'm thinking there is no eye in the socket at all i say this cus the outside of it seems kind of flat unlike the other eye a small buldge with a eye peeking out ,,, the pup is adorable even beeing popeyed i see it as a sighn that i schould keep him instead of the other one to be babied like his grandfather was for many years ,,, has alyone had this prolbem before it is a brood breeding not bro sis but definitally brood

i dont know why u would want to keep a visually impaired dog over one with just a simple hernia. hernias can go away on thier own as the pup grows, and if not, they're easy and cheap to fix and don't affect performance. sounds like your other pup has a deformed eye or no eye since it appears flat. often times this causes problems with the eyelid as well. the lid will fold in and lashes will rub the deformed eye or socket causing pain and a lifetime of infections. see what ur vet tells u on friday. good luck

if its not your first time with pups why you ask then

a pups worst enemy is a over active human mom

and if the lil mofo was born with one eye i would cull that one for shure
he is defective from birth and i personaly dont like pups that have hurnias another cull

those pups are not very healthy from the sound of it

take it for what its worth but the only med attention bulldog pups should have is worming out and vaccinations

when we had one that was slower to open, but otherwise looked healthy, my mom would get a real warm damp washcloth and hold it on the eye all morning for a couple days....im not so sure if it is considered "old school", or even actually benefitted the pup, but within a day or so the eye would open and all would be good. something she learned from my great grandma with the farm dogs

lee not knocking your mom man but she did more than most i knew

true enough some pups eyes open a lil slower than some

    a day or so difference

but iv never had to help them
    it always happens by themselves

lil mofos one open one closed untill it happens

    but any pup with health
or physical defects not caused by its mother or enviormental cicumstance shall be culled

    just my thoughts onit

I had a pup that when he opened his eyes he had cornial edima. Put meds in his eyes for weeks every 4 hours. Didn't help any. But he doesn't know he's blind lol. Lil bastard can get around real good. I keep him in the house now. He literally killed a littermate. Makes you wonder sometimes if he can see or not lol.

the eye did open today enough for me to see that there is a eyeball still a little flat on that side ,,i could never cull pups but if i were it would be the hurnia one not the popeyed dog for some reason not a sick reason i kind of wanted it to stay that way i guess we can call him popeye instead of beeing named after his great grand ,, like i said we made the if he were visually handicaped he's my responsibilty and if i had to make my house dog a yard dog i would to care for popeye ,,all 3 will be little bastards no dought ,,, don't know how true it is but i heard a few times i think not to long ago on here that the best game dogs it is very common for them to be agressive with their young ,, and i did the warm rag thing every day this eye just took 5 days longer then all the others ,,, thanks everyone

Well it is good for the dog and you can take it as a nice practice and needs to be taken care for the eye.
