I have been wanting to get a hanging scale but don't want to pay $100 or more dollars for one. I found this cheap one on ebay for $6. I figured it wasn't worth it but it's only $6, so why not. I got it a few days ago and it works perfect! I am super shocked at how good it is. It even came with the batteries, lol! 2 AA batterys will cost you a few bucks and i only paid $6 including shipping. Here is the link if any of you guys are cheap like me and want a hanging scale:) http://cgi.ebay.com/40kg-88lb-1-410...227?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256002d0db

No, I use a nylon strap with 2 rings on the end. It goes around the girth of the dog, right behind the front legs. Then you put one O ring through the other and it tightens up around the dog. You pick him up and hang the O ring from the hook on the scale.

I know it's like comparing a Porsche 911 to a PT Cruiser but they both will get you down the road. If you don't want to spend over a hundred bucks on a scale then this is a good substitute untill you save some money to get a good one. I put a test weight on it and it was right on the money.

I have 3 scales and I the one I hate the most is a digital scale. They are not that accurate. There is a good cheap scale you can buy for $20, it's called a bulldog scale, and it's one of the big round hanging scales that you see at the grocery store, it's pretty accurate you just can't be rough with that type of scale, it goes up to 110lbs. But my Viking is by far the best scale I have used, calibration is never off really. With the digital, it's much harder to Calibrate it with a test-P and it always seems to be off by a couple of ounces. JMO

The ones like Bill posted are a little more costly but are a lot quicker and easier if you got a few to weigh. Mine go up to 300 lbs and plugs into the laptop to keep records. $200 four years ago but worth it.

Like alot of thing out there, you get what you pay for. An inexpensive scale may last forever or it could die after the first use. You could always look in cabelas or basspro for a scale as well. I don't think they will be electronic though.

This is one of the scales I bought for $20. Very accurate, just don't drop it, it's a pain in the butt to fix.

I prefer a standing scale for daily use. When you hang a dog multiple times on a hanging scale it can cause epidermial and muscular and skeletal stress. A dog does need to be weighed on an accurate hanging scale twice a eweek as you all know that is the type scale they use at weight pulls and other athelitic events. So your dog needs to be atuned to this type of weighing .... the best hanging scale I ever used was a chatillon iron clad.

Not only was it tough as nails but the adjustment nut was on the top and could be flicked by your thumb. ;)

The scale in dgm2000 was good for its time but the standing scale in above link is much better for the same cost...... scales and test pieces should be of the utmost quality.
