Just an after thought has the dog been tested for babesia?? as they can go down hill quick with it and can pick back up with antibiotics ,then back downhill again.

There is a cure for leshmanosis, but its on "test program", my vet included my dogs on that program and very soon it'll be out. So keep that dog alive because the cure is close.

The dog has leishmaniosis....when he was sold he was already sick...and now these wanabee dogmen who know nothing aboout illnesses and how to treat dogs claim the dog suffered neglect and malnourishment ...they are bashing someone for no reason and bringing unnecessary drama...bunch of greenhorns...
the dog was not mistreated and was fed and given water twice a day...at first it was thought he had kidney damage because he drank so much, we figured it was from him receiving steroids maybe when he was a competiton dog but now its clear that it is also a side effect of leishmaniosis, coupled with open sores, all symptoms of leishmaniosis...

leishmaniosis is a bitch, and treatment can be expensive. i suggest you do a proper blood test, not the one the vet does in 10 minutes, the one that they send it out for analysis to get a clear picture at least. results vary depending on how bad it is already and depending on the medication you give, some of which have side effects...

after you do all that and the dog is cured, you still have regular blood test cause the shit may pop up again.

How about Miltefosine or Paromomycin as a treatment as the wounds do look like cutaneous form of leishmaniasis. These are for human consumption, but don't know why it wouldn't work for canines.

In this case I have reasons to believe what I believe, obviously pictures are a clear evidence here, all in all that dog was neglected to a good percentage unless you haven't noticed?

Wow drama central... ashame a great dog turned out to be looking so sickly he can barely walk.... really is ashame..hopefully he can be nursed back to health and live the good life... sounds like he deserves it..... these dogs should be respected... and if the dog cannot be treated put him down ... from the pics that looks like no life to live

I know nothing of this situation.

But I can definitely say that just because a dog is skinny or appears to be in a bad condition does NOT mean that a dog haS been left without food or has been in a poor environment. There are many illnesses that can cause a dog to go downhill despite treatment, and take time for the dog to come back, if they ever do. Babesia is a great example as mentioned by one member, as was the illness the dog was claimed to have.

So to assume someone is neglectful based on a picture is just unrealistic, IMHO. I would advise anyone who does not know the people involved in the situation personally should not jump on the bandwagon and say that this kennel was neglectful or anything else for that matter. :)

update of my friend (RB) with CH Kimbo:

Been to the vet yesterday with Kimbo.
He is getting a full blood research in the lab for all travel diseases, wil get the results in ten days.
He had no signs of thick disease and the wounds were to clean to be Leishmaniosis at this time to tell... specialy since all sores where on his joint's.
The conclusion they made was the same that i made, he just had bad housing and not proper care.
Both diseases are treatable and he should never have been in such a condition, he is now getting his antibiotics and wil see how he does he doing good on his food intake and i am sure he wel bounce back he was full of fire at the vet...

    more information soon

It's obvious, but people continue to do it -- sending their pups/dogs anywhere in the world not knowing who on earth they are selling to and have never seen the conditions they are sending their dogs into. You have no control over what happens to the dog once it is there -- it could changes hands and get into really bad conditions. Exporting dogs just doesn't seem worth it TO ME.

I think in other parts of the world, there are diseases you see that you don't see here very often and veterinary medicine does not seem to be on par with what we have in USA. It's another thing I would certainly research before sending a puppy/dog far away.

For the dogs, please be more discriminating on where you are sending your dogs and to WHO! Just as in this country, there are a lot of crap owners, no matter what their Internet reputation is...
