Great little terriers but IMO not a patch on the fell/patterdale type when it comes to digging.

That badger wasn't no punk! Come on dog lets get it on! That would have been a good one to watch, good dog that seemed agressive and that badger wasn't bashful at all.

The European badger is very strong and hard. Not far away from my home town a guy lost an Amstaff after a badger rumble in the undergrowth.
One time my old APBT-female has had a fight with a badger over 20 minutes in difficult terrain, so I wasn't able to help her. After 20 minutes the badger played dead (I didn't see that before), and my female made a break. When she was lieing in the grass and panting, suddenly the badger stands up and run away, with out a sign of exhaustion.

That's only a small badger. It would of been a dif story if that cage was not in the way I bet he would not of gone in that tub to draw the badger out:rolleyes:.their just not a pat;).

jagds are versatile hunting dogs.we use them for hog hunt, fox, badger and even as retriever.a good one can kill a badger, but not without getting hurt pretty bad.there are few sites in slavenic languages with photos and clips from hunts and trials.we tried other terrier breeds in our hunting grounds but only jagds showed worthy, otherwise hunters would keep other breeds just like we keep various bird dogs and hounds. jagds simply get the job done!

The gamebred Deutsche Jagd Terriers in my area are often very human-, dog-, child- aggressive. What about the Jagds where you live?
They have tried to breed friendly Jagds, but then the offspring lacks gameness. So we have a lot of new Jagds who can retrieve, point, quarry, find,... ,but they are not able to beat a badger, or catch a wild boar.
I think in your area is more the old school type.

very interesting, the one my mate has is no aggressive at all, very friendly to people and dogs, but she is a pup still, 7 months old, but so far so good.

will see next year when we dig to her.

and whats the Deutsche.. is that just another name or different type of jagd terrier

In Germany this breed is called Deutsche Jagdterrier. I think it's the same that you call Jagd Terrier.
We have some more types of this breed with a little different looking and temperament.
One Type is called Westfalenterrier. Here is a link to his website.
    Der Westfalenterrier - Das Original
Sorry, there are only German sites. Maybe you can use a translating tool.

I live in the area where the Westfalenterrier comes from. I think he is a little bit gamer, smaller and more will to please than the Deutsche Jagdterrier. But there are good and bad ones in both breeds.
Both breeds are more used on wild boar than for digging.

For digging we use the Teckel / Dachshund.
There are some types of this breed, but only a few are useful workers. The worker types are very game!
Here is a link to a breeder of the working type.

Our jagds are not suitable as pets, they only think about work and are true
workaholics. They can't beat boar but they bark around him until you have a clear shot. They also work well on blood trail. We cull very hard, and preserve only good workers, but serious breeders import proven stags and bitches from Germany occasionally,to refresh blood.Anyway I keep jagds as a second breed, pitbulls are my first and last love!yis

I have often heard that the Jagdterrier out of Germany is better than most of them here.
    It's a shame, because it's a German breed.
But we have still a few breeder who cull hard and breed with deep proven dogs.
