    Hello fellow Pit owners,

Okay so my girlfriend and I just bought a Black & White American Pit Bull. She is about 10 weeks old now and is playfullllllll! I was wondering if they're any good techniques at breaking pit pups from going for your ankle/feet? I've tried yelping and removing myself from playing after being bitten but she seems to not pick up on it every time. I'm still getting to know this forum and community so excuse me if there is already a thread for this topic.

German Shepherd pups are notorious for it, and having owned several the only thing I've found that works is LOUDLY correcting them, something like "AHHT!" loud enough to make them back off, then giving them something they can chew on, like a bone/rope ect. and praising them for using the TOY, not you. If they continue put them away. I kept a baby gate up, so you can just verbally correct, remove them by plopping them over the baby gate. Let them back out after they chill for a few minutes.

They'll catch one pretty soon that biting YOU = end of play, not being around you.

i like the fact that she is playful, get that pup more toys that make noise, get a stick or fishing pole and a string or rope tied on with a rag or toy she likes, flip it around and let her chase it

    LMAO!!!!!

I dont take well to being bit by my own dog, even if he is just playing. My pup was jumping around the other day and wrapped his mouth around my leg, he got a nice swat across the ass and got plopped in his cage. He hasn't done it since.

I just continue on like they're not even there lol.Seriously though,i do have one that is getting close to 3yrs old and he still loves to do this when you try to cross his chain spot without showing him any attention. The only thing that will make him quit is a slight kick in ass.

Okay, thanks for your advice everyone. Also does anyone know if biting back on her ear would help teach her a lesson, or is it just pointless?

wel if you want to put your face near a pup that snaps you go on at it.
do not be suprised if you got bitten in the nose, cheek or ear back :D.
I would learn the pup first not to bite an some basic rules, before playing in a certain way or keeping my face near it.
Trust me it happend many times in the past, if i bite my pup in the ear, it wil bite back, as soon as that pup is a bit older and knows the rules i wil play fight or keep my face near them but til that time face is of limits.
    special for young pups.
