alright...i've searched the site for threads pertaining to the prevention of gnats and i have yet to find anything other than that cedar oil stuff...that is way out of my price range...i recently moved to the country ( 3 1/2 acres w/ 2.5 of them undeveloped woods ) and i have a litter of 3 1/2 week old puppies who are just covered in gnats during the dusk hours of the day...gnats have gotten into eyes and its so bad i cant even go around them without being swarmed...please give me some information that can be utilized immediately......without all of the disrespectful and condemning comments if you would...lol;)

I use Natures Defense Horse Fly Repellent on my outdoor rabbit to keep gnats and flies away. It works great and is all natural so it shouldn't hurt your pups. It comes in a big bottle for like $10 and you add a little bit to water and put it in a spray bottle. I've had the same bottle for a few years for my one rabbit. I bought it at a local feed store.

How about Avon's Skin So Soft? My sister uses it for her horses. She mixes it with Citronella and Permertherin. 1/3 cup each to a gallon of water. Says it works good for the horses.

you can use 7dust. Sprinkle it in the yard and mix it with the bedding. I also buy Bronco fly spray. About $5 for. 32oz bottle at tractor supply. Insects die in a hurry, safe to spray on the dogs.

it also works for mosquito's,we rub down with it just before going outside in evenings with the kids,so i'd imagine u could use it for gnats:D

Good advice above. Could you move the pups anywhere else less "gnatty"?
Also, how about some sort of a fan blowing on the pups?

  13. Is 7 dust o.k. to treat the whole yard with? My dogs love to eat grass, will this not hurt them?

Lemon water works for fleas, so it should work with gnats too I would imagine.

I would bring the pups indoors. The young, the old, the sick often are the ones that have to be protected from "normal" environmental insults. Not every dog can handle every thing outdoors at every part of their lives. Sometimes, heaven forbid, they need help. 3 1/2 week old puppies should not have to struggle with insects, heat, humidity, wet or cold...

most people have very well built puppy areas outside. no harm in it.

Not at all; but he didn't say he HAD an outside puppy area and if he does, it's not doing any good protecting from insects, which WILL mercilessly attack pups that age.
