I have met some people that shed light on the subject Ban Dog
(Mixing APBT with mastiff) this one guy I met is not by any means rich or able to have more than 2 dogs but he develops friends who in turn want to breed the same types of dogs and they work together on what, with pride they call a Bandog originated around 1250-1300 in Middle England, referring to a mastiff type dog that was bound by a chain (not the type of dog to mess with) they are not a pure breed but made as you go along. :o<O:p</O:p
Now I won’t put the guys dogs down as they are nice looking dogs, but all he is breeding in the long run are mutt PB , I read in a book, World of fighting dogs By Carl Semantic ,He had many comments on the Bandog many positive <O:p</O:p
A few items worth mentioning “ when you breed Bandog to Bandog for a few generations you get a small APBT type of dog and a bad one at that “ <O:p</O:p
“Verbal fights among the owners of Ban Dog & APBT as to which dog is superior comes down to the challenge which the APBT ends up wining ( statement circa 1980’s ) Swinford died in October of 1971 at an early age and his version of the Bandog, although very successful, was never perfected<O:p></O:p>
The individuals I met keep putting in red nose pit, so far at the 4th generation<O:p></O:p>
They don’t game test they don’t put back mastiff , <O:p</O:p
It’s kind of sad, APBT certainly have individuals that are massive and impressive. But many are just smallish long legged terrors that people don’t realize are APBT, it’s the Ban Dog beefed out dogs floating all over people think are APBT. <O:p</O:p
Don’t get me wrong the large and small Ban dog can be a fine dog for many (including me) but they are not a APBT, still should they be including as a bull breed?

Ban dogs have been around a long time they have PB in them
Some end up looking like PB but are not, I am going out there with this but I realized if a bandog concept has been around since 1200’s it means that any dog big or smaller mixed with APBT is a type of bandog that needs extra caution around humans, If APBT owners except the bandog as a dog mix with APBT and maybe no APBT a ban dog regardless of size Is not and never will be a APBT . This mix (Bandog ) needs to be excepted as a type
So it can be separated form the APBT to end the confusion Hence a bully Pit Bull is a Bandog type

A good dog but not a APBT

The problem there is that not all bandog breeders use APBT. A bandog is a performance bred dog bred for a purpose. This can mean EBT x Boxer (dogue brasiliero) or Neo x EBT or any other mix as long as both parents are tested and from working stock. I do think that they are creating (or it might allready exist) a bandog registry and this will go some way into helping to clarify the difference.

    WTF?????

You could use canary dog and dogo to make a Ban Dog. One of the biggest they used to use was APBT and Neo.

I don't know what your point is?

They're usually bred to create guard dogs with more drive than a typical mastiff as far as I understand it. Nothing wrong with it as long as you know what you're doing and need them for some purpose far as I'm concerned. I think of them kind of like a "battle cross" between two families to get some hybrid vigor.

would a staffxapbt be considered a bandog? They're down from the same blood, diff breeds yes, but they both came from the same dogs right?
