Bad smell & excessive gas..?

Marshall619, they don't do any of that. But i think a vet trip is in order... I have to get the female spayed anyway. I thought that might have something to do with it, but I've been told it isnt. HOWEVER after perusing the forums here, i may begin questioning the validity of the info I have been given previously. I'm in NC where they mostly raise dogs for fighting purposes only, and like i said, mine are definitely NOT for that.

No no..I'm saying the idiots down here don't have a clue apparently & after readin through the forums here, I think the info I've been getting is a bunch of crap :( ..My dogs are family pets. I do not agree with fighting them, or breeding them recklessly & senselessly, which is what we have ALOT of down here. That's why I'm asking my questions on here..because even though i'm going to get shitted on for asking questions, I would rather get good info than a bunch of garbage.

I use diamond myself so i know that it gives some dogs gas problems. One of my dog eat a different food than the others bc it tears her stomach up. Ther are lots of brands better than Diamond, they are just really expensive. I have good results with Diamond 9 of 10 times so i stick with it. Might upgrade soon just to see if i notive a difference but i doubt i will. Anal gland is nothin to joke around with btw so keep that in mind. Let us know what you find out, hope they are ok

well all dogs have a level of demodex mange, when the immune system drops it can take over and get outta control, Im glad to hear ur dogs dont stay caged up like parrots too long, how do the ears look inside?

I think the anal gland thing may be off just a lil only because of the age. Are you sure that they dont get a little bit of people food occasionally? Also sometimes rawhide chews cause gas..

  8. Re: Bad smell & excessive gas..?

Catchdog, I feed them raw beef & bones occasionally, like once a week. And they did have rawhide about a month ago... i clean the ears inside with a washcloth once a week. There is no smell in the ears, and its not worse by the anus. Its kinda like permeating from the whole body.. the skin isnt flaky or greasy.. Its a little coarse on the male, but super silky on the female.. and this week they have had "tears" & they sneeze..could it be the pollen? (I know it sounds stupid..but if i dont ask i wont know)

not necessarily, ok, I would use orange bag evo, supplement with nupro, and give nuvet tabs, just use as directed on the labels, you may have to order these items just google, yer dogs will look phenominal and basically you are just chemically balancing overall, you will be happy with the results. only you have to condition hard though otherwise the protien will not be burnt up n out and it could damage the kidneys over time, Im not talking extreme conditioning, at least 15 minutes of hand walk fetch springpole flirtploe etc...

topmodel , can i ask what the size and weight of your dogs are?

  12. Re: Bad smell & excessive gas..?

They are almost 9mos old & they are both around 62lbs. The female seems a bit skinny, but she excersizes alot harder than the male.

  13. Re: Bad smell & excessive gas..?

Sounds like a food issue to me, when you switched them did you do it slowly? Most dogs will have issues going cold turkey to a totally different food and it will take months for their systems to adjust. Both of my dogs were fed Pedigree before I got them and had bad gas for quite a while, I agree you need to not bathe them so much either, strips the oils and they will overproduce, smelling more. I would pick one food and stick with it for at least 2 months, 3 is better. If it were anal glands I think you would have noticed, it's very strong and they will scoot or mess with their rear ends a lot. As far as how much to feed you need to go off body condition, not what the bag says or someone else feeds theirs, every dog is different.

i suggest that anyone telling you to cook your dogs food, or give them grains, or to Never give them bones doesn't really know what they are talkin about. dogs Are the Same as wolves from mouth to anus and really only differ about 2% genetically speaking. So when is the last time you saw a wolf cook its dinner. canus do not properly digest grains or vegetables and kibble is actually harmfull to them. the best diet is based purely on the predator idea. feed meaty bones and internal organs, cut out the kibble and grain and your problems may fade away (and you'll spend less on vets).

    yknow, just for kicks. :)

oh!, and if you're gonna bathe more than once a month, i would recommend using a moisturizing baby shampoo.
