one is poor breeding this mess started to get ugly around 14years ago or so. i blames the bullie movement for it not completely but big part of it !! poor breading back in the day if a dog was or shown human aggregation that dog was no more !!these day's people breed different breeds to get bigger dogs aggressive protective breeds at that massifs, rots you names it bullie movement is messing things up two is irresponsible owners not giving the dog the proper training !! also owners not being able to recognise their dogs issue like food aggression or possessiveness !! just to name a few <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

This is a little off topic, but I ran into a guy with a blue tri colored dog and a white and blue dog at the gas station. I asked him if his dogs had papers. I didn't see the blue tri bully. The other dog looked more Ukc.
He said yes maam, they are Razors Edge and Gaff. Said he used to have gamedogs but couldn't sell them anymore. People only want to buy the bullies. He had a gamebred dog at home he was going to put down because he didn't have a buyer for it. He just got back from doing ear trims too by the way.
I just wanted to throw up.

Well if this pattern continues we won't have to worry about people taking our apbt's away cause everyone won't know what a REAL bulldog looks like. They'll only think of bullies when they think of a pit bull. That way if they ever do ban our brews we will still be able to walk our dogs down the street and people will say " that's a pretty dog what kind of dog is that?"

I feel ya on this! I never tell people that my dogs are Pitbulls if asked what kind of dogs they are. I feel if they don't know then thy don't need to know! Even animal control thinks my dogs are huntin dogs with a little bulldog in the mix! Thats what I told them and they can''t prove otherwise! I've got some dogs thats got a lot of leg under them with not so blocky heads that can pass for other breeds. The majority of the public thinks that if it's not blue than it's not true! And I can't really say thats a bad thing!

It can be a good thing. The only thing we are losing is the name. But there was a lot of controversy over the name back in the day anyway. Call it what you want, it is what is.

the sooner people realise that these dogs are not for everyone , that they are a performance animal , and require work and experience , the sooner we can start thinning out some of the jokers who have latched onto this breed, not for the dogs but for their own ego. the wrong dogs in the wrong hands = HEADLINES .

I like to call them American terriers. Leave out the pitbull and it's all good. Even an American bull terrier. Leave off the pit, nobody knows the difference. I don't have one that weighs over 40lbs right now so people think it ain't a pitbull. It's a blessing in disguise.

EXACTLY..either a couch patato or a what some here call a performace breed such a the APBT!

This dog came from DARSERKENNELS after this happened I contacted him and told him what happened he appolagized said he'd help me find a dog from differant lines do some dog tradding with a buddy and get me a free dog said he'd call in a week that was 12 weeks ago!

That sucks about your dog man...but I will play devils advocate here I don't ever keep or let Game bred APBT around kids...maybe just me but thats how I do it. You get a high drive dog around kids you just don't know...goes back to when I was young old timers said boy leave them dogs alone or I will swat ya..I learened quick...

Ill probly get another pup after about 6 months of serious looking." Getting an amstaff with do drive " does that solve the kid biting problem? Seems someone who gets bit or knows someone the problem solving awnser is get an amstaff or ambully sound contradictive to what most say the problem is the BYB breeders of both of these dogs.

they have had 3 pitbull attacks here in NEw orleans in the past week and a half.... the news and Talk radio are loving this stuff
i walk in the park and i swear people run and grab ther kids..... my dogs LOVE kids BUt ..... you just dont let em come arouind with toys.. then its a diffrent ball game

I'm the same way. One raised lip. One growl. Nevermind a bite, they are done for. I don't stand for ANY sort of aggression to family members, ESPECIALLY towards the kids whether that is food, toy, dominace, etc.. aggression. I have very high drive dogs and they are AWESOME with my kids. 100% kid friendly or dead. That's my motto. lol Some of my dogs would kill each other without a second thought but they all just turn to mush at the site of the kids. lol

First I have an American Terrier as well No pit No bull in the name. Second its like this kids are little and they move fast, also they squeal. High prey drive animal like the American Terrier could easily make a mistake and think its an animal not a human. Specially a young AT. I know with my girl her mouth moves faster than her brain sometimes, (at a full run she will snap up a ball or a water bottle and keep moving without breaking stride.) By the time their brain catches up "oh shit this is a human i have hold of" damage is done.
