the rubber belt is what i purchased... i just tookit apart again and am gonna try again 2morrow if i dont get called to work... I premeasured on the floor and i drilled it and once i started to put the damn thing on the mill and continued to put slats in it was all super off...

Try fire hose with the fabric maybe, Mr. ROBERT LEMM used it on yhos mills, the material that everyone is trying is more flexable and strechy than past made runners, so i yhink you get more strechin, but fire hose hase cloth outer lining that might not allow it to strech like alot of you are experiencing, but might be wrong tho, but firehose is sounding more and more practical, rather then messing around with stuff that streches an inch between fastend straps

yes... i am bro... im actually gonna try & use the belts it had... i figure if i can get the measuremnts correct again that this wont stretch... i just hope i have enough belt as i am using smaller slats than what it had...

the fireman hoses i think must be the best to put on a slatmill... Advantages are 1) its lighter 2) easier to work with 3) it last longer... the one im gonna try to put back together has been on this mill for over 15 years and its still looks good... i hope it will work out ... i wil keep ya posted...

I agree w Roe, as far as price, avail, etc fire hose may be the best option...Im sure some stations have old hoses layn around they may part with...cut it open, cut to size, and go...may be long enoufe to get more than one belt out of it...if nothing else and you have to, be a vol. fire fighter, help your town out and get slatmill belts :D

Caine25, the tabs that stick out for the main large rollers to bolt into, they look a bit thin. May just be the pic and I know that section doesnt get beat on to hard but may want to check that out..you prob have already  good work btw

Just a thought...has anyone tried to use tow straps for a belt? Super strong, cheap, flexible, no streach, buy bout anywhere, etc. If you kept them thin enoufe should flex easily but maybe not like a stip of rubber would

Something else that crossed my mind for belting is leather. Long ago they were used for machinery and pulley systems. Looking into it can still be bought by the strips. Cheap also. A 4" x 12' stop is roughly 30bux and needs to be oiled atleast once a year...
