100% colby

does anyone own a pure colby dog..i have been emailing back and forth with lou colby ...buying collars and talking alittle about dogs.. as most know he is really getting up there in age and he said he only has a couple of litters a year if that... 800 dollars is what he sells his pups for... if you own one how are they...GOOD BULLDOGS or has the dogs changed since the good ol days?? i thought it might be a gimme that they are still working bulldogs but i dont know anyone who has ever owned a pure colby...i havnt talked to him in a few mos ..hopefully he is still alive...

 

Don't be fooled, they're are still real deal bulldogs that are colby bred, I own a pure colby female, while my female is cold (so far, her mom also turned on late) but her full sisters are anything but. My female is out of good solid working stock top and bottom. But you'd get a pup cheaper from Lou than you would get the female I have from me. Mine is Colby's Jude x Weaver's CH Princess (Colby's CH Rubin x. Weaver's CH Colby Diamond)

I have a Colby bitch I bought from Lou. She is a house dog and show dog of course, however I have other bloodlines on my yard. My Colby bitch is by far the smartest, most athletic, hardest working, longest winded...and best dog on my yard by far. I have had to break up a few minor disagreements (nothing serious) and she turns on like a tornado if a dog comes at her...male or female.

Lou breeds dogs one way and thats the way his father taught him. Many people think you must test your stock in order to keep it competitive...which may or may not be true...but if you understand genetics like Lou and find combinations that work you may never have to set one in a box...and thats the truth.

i don't like colby of now. they have an high gap in selection.In my opinion you can find more good proven stuff today.

 

the Ruban X Blitzon X Ch. Princess stuff im talking is off proven stock.
as long as the colby and eli/boze blood has ben around someone must have Experiance with this cross.

i was just looking at this earlier..

 

I think the majority of modern Colby dogs are breed for companionship and a historical name more so than their original purpose!

 

My partner actualy was partners on a pup from that breeding Preme. He picked up 2 from MBK. One was lost young in an accadent and we lost track of the owner of the other.

 

This sounds just like paper breeding to me.getting gamedogs is already a crap shoot theres one way to find out which one is foreal.
This is another reason why i say the old bloodlines cant compete because of this exact kind of thing.

There were 3 pups from that Jude X Princess breeding... I have/had the other 2... Dehlia, I lost last summer, and Bodie I still have... Both were/are solid females.

I have/had colby dogs for many years. They have strengths and weakness but have a solid base that is great to work with and blend to produce outstanding offspring.

BTW, I fed Jude before MBK did, as well as his bellymate sister who passed away on my yard last year... Jude was/is an ok dog (in my opinion), but his sister Sara was the better of the 2 (again in my opinion.lol)

 

I got a female from lue she is by far the smartest bull dog ive ever seen, outstanding wind and amazing drive she was very hot headed as a pup she is about 13 months now and wont take crap from any of my other dogs , she dont go looking for truble but if it comes her way she handels her self very well... The man knows what he is doing when it comes to puting a dog together.....
