RANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A 12-year-old boy admitted he set up brutal dog fights and killed a dog. But, Gregory McDonald cried in court Friday when he claimed it wasn't his fault.

"I'm not the one who did it, he blamed it on me," McDonald told a judge.

McDonald pleaded guilty to felony charges Monday. He was one of two boys charged in the case.

A 10-year-old boy was also arrested, but his trial is scheduled next week.

McDonald said he was not involved in the dogfighting and he only watched his friend.

Dressed in a blue jumpsuit, 12-year-old Gregory McDonald walked into court with a blank face. He and 10-year-old Alfonzo Harris were both arrested two weeks ago for dogfighting. The two admitted to authorities they learned about the activity on YouTube, but then McDonald changed his story and started crying when he was in front of the judge.

William Dodd, a witness in the case, called animal services when the pair tried to throw a dead dog on his property. The county says this is the first dogfighting case it has investigated that involved juveniles.

Dodd believes the two stole neighborhood dogs and then fought them. In one instance, one of the dogs died and the children tried to bury it in Harris’ back yard. .

“Them kids steal bikes, they steal dogs they go into people's houses they do anything they want,” Dodd said.

After McDonald sobbed in court, he then changed his plea and begged the judge to release him.

"How do you plea to these charges?" the judge asked.

"Guilty," answered McDonald. I want to go home.”

But he was not released because he's set to go to trial on three other cases, including battery, petty theft and burglary.

In the meantime, his counterpart, Alfonzo Harris, pleaded not guilty in court and will return next week to tell his side of the story.

McDonald faces up to seven years in jail. Harris will be on home confinement until his trial on Thursday

10 and 12...kids exactly. And to hear it spun, they're making them sound like dogfighting dons. Somebody tell me that no adults were involved in this, saw any of this, or suspected.

that's bullshit. They're kids who made a stupid mistake. This is getting out of hand.

  5. If you bothered to read the story before and finish the one above, the little turds are involved in all kinds of other trouble too. I don't call burglary, battery, and theft on top of dog fighting simple mistakes. These little shits should be taught a lesson and keep their little asses locked up for a while. I have no sympathy whatsoever for them.

The parents of the turds should also be accountable to a certain degree. They knew wtf was going on with these turds and threw their hands up in the air and let it happen.

Get off the pity wagon for these punks. If it was your house they were burglarizing, or you kids they were battering I'm quite sure you all would be singing a different tune.

Unfortunately this is a no win situation. You want to teach these kids a lesson but if they really get 7 years he'll most likely just come out a well schooled criminal.

I just hope these kids get some serious help. They lacked serious discipline growing up and now society is paying for it.

i agree, dont lock them up. there to young and theyre minds are like sponges right now.
all locking them up will do is make them more hardened criminals.

it just sounds like these kids nedd THE ASS WOOPIN OF A LIFETIME.

if i was pops, trust me this should WOULD NOT be happeneing!

i disagree, 10 years old is to young to be introduced to the system. trust me it will FUCK A KID UP!!! literally. introduce him into the system that young and his criminal career escalates!!
UNLESS the kids a complete bitch and gets beat up everyday, than maybe that will fix him to not ever want to go back. but if kids are how they were when i was that age (which wasnt that long ago) we though we were cool to get locked up, so lets not hope these kids go in there with that mentality.

i believe these kids just need a hard ASS WOOPIN from time to time.

I"m with LWG. While I agree they need to be taught a lesson they are still only young kids. Being locked up is not the anwser and to me is going overboard. If they were a few years older then I wouldn't care but they are only 10 and 12.

I agree. Especially the part about the parents. Poor discipline is the reason crap like this happens.

  17. Ten and Twelve year old kids commit serious crimes including murder quite often. Bleeding hearts that think the age should ALWAYS be an excuse is a big part of the reason of the decline of our past 2 generations of youngsters.

If I got caught pulilng any of this shit when I was a kid the last thing I would have had to worry about was the law, the person whose house I broke into, or going to jail. There was true discipline in my house and you knew where the line was you better not cross. It's the same humaniac thinking that took away whooping a kids ass right good that is taking our dogs. Some are just too blind to see it. Now some will say the only reason a kid listens in that setting is because they are afraid of you.......well good. They should be! That's what keeps your ass in line. You don't speed because you're AFRAID you will get a ticket. You don't rape because you're AFRAID you will go to jail. Get it?

God I hope the only reason you don't rape is the threat of jail time;)

I agree with everything you said but I still think at 10 and 12 years old jail is not the answer nor is using a s&w to deal with kids as one poster suggested. I would suggest some hard labor until they repay their debt to society. Serious counseling and countless hours of community service
work landscaping, painting houses, trash duty, etc... Keep the little shits busy and tired.

It is a different day today. As a parent I know that we cant discipline the way we were disciplined. I had my fair share of ass whippings and they weren't abuse they were effective too. These days you can barely spank your kids and CPS is on your door. So disipline doesnt always work now that the government are in our homes telling us how to run our homes.

Hell my son stole some candy from the gas station when he got home I found it and drove him back to the place and had them call the cops on him. the cops came and I told them to take him in if they wanted to stop this now. He said he couldn't because he was only 10 and they cant go to juvy until 12 WTF?!?!? I just wanted the little turd to go to juvy even if just for one night but he cant so he learned nothing.

  20. LOL I gotta admit that's pretty damn funny!! :D

I agree with what you said also. Work them little turds into the ground. That's part of the problem too. PS3 and Xbox has taken the place of parenting. None of these kids have an actual chore to do around the house anymore. :(
