I take the knowledge of those who have more experience than me and apply it to my practical dealings.

    Its called learning.

You should try it some time.

im all open for learning mate im no expert but what i do is speak from things i have experienced with my dogs and others.

re read that again, I HAVE EXPERIENCED.
i dont quote some fellas book or mention all i have learned from a tv show.

i learnt from time on the yard and out with the dogs not from some dudes best seller.

and look im not trying to get this any more heated than what it is and we will never agree.
but we are talking about how to tell a dogs got a hard mouth and you guys turned it into a thread about squeezing a pups toes.

    where is the connnection there?

as soon as the hairs go up you resort to both of those trainers like they are the head of some cult your a member of and this isnt the first time.

but ive said it before and i will say it again to you, my opinions on dogs come from my own experience with the dogs and i am resorting to what has happened with my dogs.
when the heat gets turned up a little bit i dont fall back on the last dog training book ive read or something someone else has said or what ive seen on the last episode of the dog whisperer.

dont take offence by it., your obviouslt passionate about your opinions as am i.

What you seem to be assuming, is that I just read and watch shows.

My family is Sicilian, its still legal to fight dogs in Sicily, my great grandfather started fighting dogs 100+ years ago his name is recognizable in Europe... Giuseppe was his first name. I've been brought up around dogs my whole life, I've owned more dogs than I can fucking count. My family has had yards full of dogs since before I can remember and well before I was born.

Because I choose to take advice from someone who gets good results, doesn't mean I just read shit.

Don't jump to conclusions is all I'm saying. People come up in here and discount shit like its gospel... just because they disagree. I'm not telling anyone they HAVE TO DO THIS. I'm sharing an opinion. If you don't agree, I couldn't give two shits. But just because you haven't ever tried it, or disagree with it. Don't be so quick to throw the notion down the fucking toilet.

Different strokes for different folks, and the only reason I mentioned 2 prominent figures who use the methods mentioned, is because everyone started spurted shit about it being amature and not knowing anything about dogs.

Well I guess the worlds #1 & 2 dog trainers and behavioralists are amatures, and the success me and millions of other people have had using their methods in real application aren't worth shit. Coz you said so

why is it every time you are disagreed with you answer it with your two gods then.

fuck mate your the one whos answer was to squeeze the toes of a pup and it is the dog that holds on in a thread about "traits of a hard mouthed dog"

we can go over this forever but you still made the worst statement ever in you first post and you can never change that.

maybee your in the wrong place. Anyone who has answered on here that is worth his salt has the same opinion as me.

and if you want me and anyone else for that matter to stop giving you greif about dog whisperer and dog whisperer too stop using them as an example everytime your called out.
Giuseppe yeah i know him

Pretty funny, since I didn't mention them til the end of the 2nd page, when specifically called out on the source and validity of the method.

All good, agree to disagree, I'm still gonna do what works for me.

just because a dog holds and does not let go does not mean he is a hard biter . it means he is a tenacious biter not willing to let go.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the concept of 'hard biters', so i will try to dispel a little of it, although some people obviously get it and others don't. When i talk about 'hard punchers' to boxers, i often use the bite of pit bulldogs as an example. And when i talk about hard-biting dogs, i often use boxers as an example. it lets people from different backgrounds stand back and look at things objectively.

So, in the case of dogs, i will refer to hard-punching people. i have seen guys in the gym who could destroy other people with their hard punches. Their punches were every bit as hard as the George Foreman's and michael Tyson's, etc. But they were fighting inferior opponents. A hard punch isn't simply the ability to shred a heavy bag. many, many big strong guys can do this.

Why? Because a punch, or a bite, in the ring at least, isn't simply about powerful muscles. A truly hard bite requires not only natural biting ability, but also the ability to use leverage and wrestling to make the other dog vulnerable to the bite. it means having enough endurance to have the energy to bite after the first 5 or 10 minutes. it means targeting an area where a 'hard bite' will actually matter.

now, you guys who are worried about producing dogs with hard bites must not be fighting the 'cream of the crop', because countless times dogs with hardly any bite at all have curred out hard-biting dogs because these 'hard biters' were used to having their way with lesser dogs and didn't have to fight very long.

if you guys want to settle for the lowest echelons of this sport, then breed for 'hard bite', rather than gameness, endurance, and wrestling ability. let me tell you, at the higher levels, every dog bites hard. just like at the higher levels of boxing, those guys all hit hard and they can take a punch also. if you don't believe it, get in the ring with them. it's easy to aim low, like at the guy in the next block, but it won't get you where you want to be. That's my opinion anyway.

Well obviously we all have some good points.

I just hope that the bickering with each other can go to the wayside or be taken to private messages. Lets debate the idea of what is right and wrong but lets not debate each other.

If it starts getting bad it will have to be closed and I really don't want to do that or see it happen due to the fact that it is a good subject that a lot of folks can learn from.

So if you have something to say as far as arguing lets take it to private messages so we can leave this topic up for education purposes.
