its a novel idea. yes, there was rumor that the ADBA sold out its books- i dont believe it for a second. im sure it was started by someoen whos papers didnt come fast enough for them.
so if you are afraid of registrie's traceabilities- what are you doing about rabies vaccinations?

In the state of Texas DVM are not required by law to submit any vaccine records . What this means is in the state of texas you can go to your DVM and stay current with in the law with out worry of them submitting your personal info. However if there is an incident and the info is requested then they will submit it to the propper officials.

What ever you do, dont get caught with your pants down on that issue.

The subject of registering is a catch 22. Might be damed if you do damned if you dont.

My dogs are ADBA registered, but I do keep my own records. I just do it for my own personal sake. However, Cutt is 100% correct, it's only as good as the person writing them. If you trust that person, like Southrenman stated, than all is good!

I know of many, many dogs with ADBA papers that are not true and some of those people that i'm talking about are very well known and others aren't. The reason I know this to be true is because these people told me they did so and for whatever reason they chose to disclose this information to me I guess they felt like coming clean to someone and I suppose they felt they could trust me, I don't know!

Anyway, handwritten peds...mine are on the computer in a file, lol!

LOL. My point in this thread. You can take your chances with the registries. A hand written ped is as only good as the man who rights it. I certainly can not fault any one for taking that path if they have honest dogs. I beleive that is vital to be discreat.

I know there are folks out there that may read this thread and assume that thier private medical records are submitted to the city, county and state officials. That is not the case in texas, ok. I know that it is not likely that most will mis read anything in this thread, but you never know. if you live in texas don't let that thought prevent you from vaccinating against rabies.

But what if you don't have a choice ?
In my country because of the pitbull ban the last 15 years(thank god it's gone)
A couple of dogs got forged pedigree's so that they wil have legal FCI papers.
Because of that i can not registrated a dog of his original bloodline.
But i do keep the pedigree on track myself.
And the ved, wel i got one who love's working dogs in any form what so ever.

I know many ppl who keep their own handwritten peds and I have a few myself. It the records are accurate registration means nothing more than being able to show in a conformation show. Many great dogs today still have handwritten peds and for many reasons. Some breeders go underground with proven stock, some are do not want the SPCA or AC knocking at their door, and many other reasons. Like it was said it is only as good as the one writing the ped but it is still done with success and care today.
