Cheer me up! Spring pole pictures!

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by ReleaseTheHounds, Jul 17, 2009.

  1. Ok - so I am currently a bulldog-less woman. My most recent foster went to a family last Saturday, and I am already missing having a pit around.

Nothing makes me happier than saying a pit doing his thing on a spring pole - it is like an instant smile machine.

So cheer me up on this crappy pitbull-less Friday of mine. Post some pictures of pits on spring poles for me - or pits being happy and working in general, I love working dogs. :)

Here are a couple of Dexter, the dog I just placed in a new home, playing on his makeshift pole. Also featured is my boyfriend, cause we all know sometimes you need some petting in the middle of a spring pole session. (And it helps prove to our neighbors that a spring pole is NOT meant to teach him to bite people.....)

(He isn't pushing him in this picture, Dexter just seems to think he is coming for the spring pole so he lept away sideways.)

This dog may not have been from any special breeding, but he certainly had heart when it came to his pole. It was his favorite toy, he would sit next to the backdoor and yell to go out and use it. We would have to drag him back inside, fighting and trying to get back to the pole whenever he was done. He'd get so tired sometimes he would be falling over, hardly able to stand while still trying to jump and get a hold. I think he would have gone until he killed himself from exhaustion if I would let him.

Of course, I did not get any good action shots of him swinging himself around in the air, but he would whip himself around like a nut, tail going 90 miles an hour in a little blur the whole time.

I know people who claim they can't get their dogs even remotely interested in the pole, and it makes me pretty sad because it tells me right off how far gone from a normal pit their dogs are. Very sad - but bluffs and big giant mastiff mixes are considered "real pitbulls" around here. My little shitty bred, too-big chest, bow legged rescue stray loved the pole so much - yet their "real pitbulls" couldn't even be assed to get off the ground for the pole. I just smile and tell them they don't know what they are missing and that they should try owning a real dog one day.

I hear ya, I just burried a great one yesterday. She was all dog and will be missed greatly, she was everything a bulldog should be, and I would love to have 100 more just like her.
What state are you in? I know of a pup that needs a home.

  3. Sorry for your loss man. It is always hard.

I'm in MA, but I may be moving in a couple months for a job. Probably holding off for now on grabbing another bulldog until I figure out if the state the job will take me to is impossible to find housing that will let you have a pit - I'm sure its going to be hard enough for me with my Akita and my macaw. ><

If its really a hard place to find pit friendly housing in, I will probably wait a year or so until I finish the job and am back in MA. Just not sure where the world will be taking me in the next couple months right yet, and don't want to ever have to give away a dog because I'm moving.

  5. Hah hah what a cute little fatty fat butt!

The screaming made me laugh to be honest - Dexter would start whining and growling when he got really into it too. I wish I had my video camera that day, but I had just broken my 10 megapixel camera and was using a crappy oldschool 3 megapixel camera to shoot that with out any video options on it.

I have a heavy sixbits dog that wont toutch the spring pole. Work a flirt pole to death but wont toutch a springpole. I also know of another bitch that is ALL bulldog that just wont toutch one ether. Dogs are individuals, even ones bred to standerd.

  8. Those pictures are great, made my day Scratchin dog!

Big Game - didn't mean to imply a dog is worthless if he doesn't like to work spring or flirt poles, I was just referring to the fact that where I live everyone loves big, fat, out of shape, cur dogs that can't even get off their asses to save their own lives. Poor things look like they are in pain just standing up - I don't think they would have an ounce of drive in them if their lives depended on it. :(

Great pics scratchin dog! Angus is one of the best looking dogs I've ever seen!

  10. Not the greatest pics but he loves this thing and I love it for tiring him out. I keep his stupid accident prone butt on the ground though. This was from the beginning of summer, all that nice green grass is pretty much dead from the dogs at this point.

LOL @ Angus biting at the pole.
I have one that does that too. She could care less what's on the end of the pole, she'd just rather grab the pole itself.

Man I think I have the only pitbull that doesn't give a shit about sping poles and flirt poles. Bring out a frisbee on the other had and he goes ape shit. He loves to play tug with his rope in the house but as soon as he goes outside he won't even look at the rope because it is frisbee time. Go figure
