Didnt catch this, or I would have addressed it earlier. I thought the periods at the end of my first statement clarified my follow up statement "Like Deacon though." My fault, I usually try to practice proper grammar lol. I stated that I liked the Deacon side of that pedigree., so there is no confusion.
If I were to wish to "have" a lady, I would wish for Selma Hayek by the way lol.

What do you mean "someone posted what really happened with Shredder?" Did anyone ever suggest anything other than he lasted an hour, and it was a big deal back then because he was the first one bred that way to even last that long in years? No one is waving a Shredder flag on here buddy, just stating what was printed. I try not to bash or slam anyone or any dogs, especially when I dont believe the victim of the attack is on line to defend themselves. The question was about Hemphill dogs, so I attempted to post something positive. If you read between lines, then you would see I was in no way bragging on that dog lol.

As I´m not in the know as you know (LOL!!!!) if they came in with Red Shredder as a Hemphill bred dog, haven´t there been others that have been matched against decent competition or did they just try to set a point??????
Anyways, I do like the looks of the red´s but also it was said that colby isn´t worthy anymore but yet have to see that some are using this blood at least to cross it into their stuff.
May there are some more reports????
I do think that this line is watered down and peddled a lot but so are other lines also!

Might there aren´t that high percentages either but may there are some left.

Don´t know nothing about Red Shredder anyways but as they competed with him he must shown at least to be worth a try.

  7. I too am in Fl, and hemphill/wilder dogs are pretty common down here. When flat out asked how did your dog make Ch. they all say in the show ring. A good family friend who is now passed away wouldn't feed anything else. Gr. Ch BoogieMan. I consider 50lbs +to be a big dog so yes, they run bigger. I can tell you that back in the late '70s-early'80's is when I was around them first hand. The dogs in my opinion are too smart for their own good, they will be on a hog giving him hell on top, but as soon as that pig starts to give in they walk away!! As if their point has been proven in their own doggie minds. I like a dog that lets me do the thinkin for him and he does as told, like a soldier that is a how a dog should act in any circumstance.Anyways the hemp/wilder dogs that I seen would never follow thru keeping the pig held down in the end.

Lightner hemps are great performers most are one person dogs as welland smart will escape ..:) ... they have great wind and very fast hard strikers tend to rip and move but will also dig ..I think 'if you can find one' . It' will be a great choice the bitches should run no more then 50Lbs the males no heavier then 60 other wise I would question the line .

I agree when you inbreed too tight they tend to throw health issues and die about 7-8 years old :(

'No' both dogs scratched but the REAL dog man picked up before he was an actual 'DEAD' dead game dog. In my day you take that dog and you try and improve on his game with more bite by breeding to somthing that is a hard punisher. I've had the top at the end and told the guy he is a piece of shit for leaving his dog down ...it deserved better.. why waste a dead game dog that could beat 9 out of ten but ran up on 10 one time ..I guess people think alittle different these days

Very few familys/lines can withstand extensive inbreeding which Hemphill being one of them. Health issues and premature death aren't one of the Hemphill family issues.

The "real dogman" picked up Shredder because he started cur screaming & turned. If a family/line can't stand on it's own...leave it alone! When you start outcrossing the average will continue to pop up and then you have to hope for hybrid vigor. History has shown what lines can stand on their own!

This has been gone through before on other forums.
    Shedder was making noise.
It was his son Nutty Buddy who beat Raging Bull's champion.
Next time out Nutty Buddy quit in 30 minutes as reported.

As for health issues and inbreeding, you only get health issues if the congenital fault is already in the line. Inbreeding doesn't create it, it just brings it to the surface.
I have bred a line of dogs for over 40 years off 2 females and 1 male with out any crosses.
It is the purest family of dogs on the face of the planet for the APBT!
The line has produced more titled dogs from the OFRN strain in history.
In every litter there is quality enough to produce winners and the others in the litter are more then worth feeding and being able to produce winnings.

No body is feeding Hemphill bred dogs and no one is breeding it straight from Hemphill bloodlines.

There is Red Devil in that dog. I knew Underwood and Geo. Urosevich. from Tampa.
    Smith's Otto Otto bloodlines.
You will also find these bloodlines in Gr. Ch. Solution.
Otto produced a few recognized SDJ champions.
