First off one must understand why red boy was added the jocko dogs. It really wasn't to help the red boy dogs from what I understand it was to add heart to the jocko dogs. The jocko dogs needed redboy not the other way around from what I understand and have been told. And from that info even IF one could get a hold of jocko blood with no out crosses I sure wouldn't put much stock into them for the problems they are rumored to have. Not saying that all are like that but there might be a FEW that arnt like that if any at all exist but I wouldn't want one based on that info but if you came across a good dog hey there you go cause good dogs are where you find em' no matter the way their bred. Just don't expect a breeding dog outta one is all I'm saying. But best of luck in your search and remember paper means nothing if the dog is nothing but bred pretty. USE COMMON SENCE

I think you both are right. A friend of mine owned some of the tightest jocko blood around and I had the opportunity to own this dog http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=71012 . I declined because of the low percentages he struggled with for years with this family. When I took it heavier toward the yellow blood I got really good dogs. I know folks with Ho dogs that swear by them. I wouldn't try to breed it pure but thats just me. Most folks I've seen has crossed it with the Ellison, yellow and I believe I've seen some Boyles crosses. If you want it pure I would look for dogs off Ho, Big Country and there is one out there now named jocko.

LOL Jocko didn't have to be game he was an Ace, like his sire Hank. He was sorta loose bred which doesn't really mean anything other than passing on his traits in heavy breeding would of been harder and in lower % if he wasn't game or didn't throw game dogs thus the infusion of redboy to add what was lacking and those dogs that created the RBJ line have become the most successful lines in the breed....

    Here's his story.

This dog was a legend in the South. No dog was more feared. He had a unique style that made him so devastating. He only would hit the left rear stifle. He would not bite a dog any place else. But once he got there he would kill you. He would simply not let go. He was that devastating. Instead of putting himself in the “69” position where another dog could grab his stifle he stayed in the same direction as the other dog. He would shake and just crush the never and muscle of his opponent. Once in it was a rap. Jocko was a unique bred dog. He came from a blood line few knew much about. His sire was a devastating dog called Jackson’s Hank. Hank was owned by the legendary dog man Vernon Jackson. The bottom side of Jocko is in question to some degree. Jocko was owned and campaigned by Fletcher Chavis. He was sold to a fellow named Wayne Porter. The price was $7,500, which at the time was a huge amount. Chavis bought himself a new pickup with “Jocko” on the tag. Porter was one of the first Homosexuals to be active in the dog game. As you can imagine he got a lot of teasing. One night Crenshaw said a few things and Porter went to his truck to get his gun. The people there told Crenshaw to get out. He listened. When Porter came in Crenshaw was gone. Later on Porter killed to men with a shotgun, blowing their heads off after they made some homo remark to them. When the FBI came looking for Porter they found 75 dogs on his land in Winston Salem NC. Those dogs, including Jocko, were seized and put down. That was the end of Jocko. Porter was apprehended in Calf and is now serving life a sentence

Naaw I Don't Get Bent Out Of Shape.:) Just Lettin Ya Know Bud.

In the late 70's early 80's Mr Fletcher Chavis bred some dogs that any fancier would be proud to own. Much of his original stock came from that old dog CH Yellow John ROM and for years Mr Chavis campaigned with those inbred redboy dogs that he got from RT Bass. He was considered one of the best. In the mid 70's an outstanding discovery was made. Vernon Jackson had a dog that he purchased from Don Mayfield that he called Hank. He was inbred Mayfield Lightning II blood. Hank didn't start till he was 3 years old, but when he did; he not only turned out to be a phenomenal performer but an exceptional producer as well. He was bred to a bitch of B. Rasts called Queenie and from that litter came Ch.Jocko, Ch.Argo, Pearl(Apple) and a few other good ones.

Mr Chavis ended up with Jocko and that was the beginning of the famous Redboy/Jocko line. Mr. Chavis campaigned with Jocko and he looked to be unbeatable due to the inherited trait of Hanks back end style. Jocko became a CH and was retired for stud. He was bred to his sister Apple(Pearl) to get two good producing bitches named Green's Sandy and Green's Coffee. These two bitches were bred into a winning hard mouthed triple bred Bass' Tramp Redboy dog named Ch.Yellowjohn (ROM).

Out of Coffee's litter came Super Gnats boots who won one in 4:52. Out of Sandy's litter came GR.CH.John Boy, S.T.P.'s CH.Toro, S.T.P.'s Ch.Tyson, Chavis Cleopatra, Chavis Deadly, and Greens Hitman. Chavis Also had a bitch named Ch.Lady Sassy Mead (4X)(half Redboy and half Lonzos breeding.) She was also bred to Ch.Jocko. Out of that litter came Chavis Dangerous Dan, Thor, Margaret and Lady Rose. Dangerous Dan was bred to a bitch named Steen's Delilah (who was out of the above Margaret when she was bred to a 2Xwinner named Bucky (Jocko X Redboy-bitch) to get Carolina Kennel's Ch.Termite (ROM). Ch.Termite when bred to a Medlin's Outlaw bitch made Gr.Ch. Sirus. Chavis Lady Rose was bred back to Jocko to get Chavis Flipper, Chavis Susie, and a 2Xwinning bitch named Miss Jocko. Susie was bred straight to Bass Tramp Red Boy to get Chavis Red Lady. Red Lady was bred back to Flipper to get Chavis Ch.ROHO. Miss Jocko was also bred to CH.YellowJohn. Out of that breeding came S.T.P.'s CH.Sassy, Gainys GR.CH.Jr, and Tants GR CH Yellow ROM.

There have been so many breedings done with Redboy-Jocko that it gets a bit confusing. I think that the most INFLUENTIAL dog of all the redboy-jocko dogs has to be Gr.Ch.Yellow because of all the champions he produced with bitches of ALL other bloodlines and his own. Gr.Ch.Yellow also produced bitches that produced as well as he did. Special mention....Gr.Ch.Yellow was bred to his littermate sister Ch.Sassy to produce Tant's AAA who is producing males and females of the utmost performance quality.

After Gr.Ch.Yellow won his first match ,Carl Crews took an interest in him, when he talked to his partner about he said "I don't like the dog he scratches to slow "But after Carl put a bug in his ear for a while Tant gave in and EACH MAN GAVE $400.00 A PIECE!!!! So Gr.Ch.Yellow was bought for $800.00 dollars Yellow stayed in Tant's yard most of the time because Carl carried a little more attention than Tant. Yellow won his first at 14 months old which would make his D.O.B. approximately Sept. of '83. He became a Ch. at the age of two and a Gr.Ch. at three. Yellow was placed on the ROM list in '93 with 5 ROM points. The following came from the SDJ Book of Champions, vol.2."A six time winner, many dog men thought Yellow would be easy to whip, since he only puts out enough energy to win. Whatever the other dog had to put out, Yellow just stayed out in front. He's won in the short time of 30 minutes and the marathon time of two hours and 37 minutes. Always just enough to win."

the reason redboy was added was the fact that the old man owned both jocko and yellowjohn....no well thought out breedings....crossed dogs together off each and the breeding clicked....what can i say the rest is history......

I guess I've missed it over the years.
I would like someone to name me any champion dogs sired off Ch. Jocko or his brother Ch. Argus which carried no "Red Boy" in the pedigree......

    Iron Mike CH Dog

Gee I always though it was because Red Boy beat Ch. Jocko's grand father Cable's Fang.
And I haven't yet seen dogs from Ch. Jocko or his brother that did any winning without Red Boy dogs in the pedigree.
BTW D.Holcomb had Ch. Yellow John and that is who shot him for biting his kid!

jocko wasnt bred much out of the yard which could be why he didnt produce better.

  20. C2K

    C2K Top Dog

    He was bred enough.
Don't forget his litter brother was also a champion.
But that is where it ends.
I read about the question of the bottom side, there was no question about the bottom side of his pedigree.
Just lesser known dogmen who wasn't around for decades blowing his horn like Mayfield.
You find similar dogs from the same basic stock in Patrick's Tombstone.
A lot of it was old William's and DeCordova blood like in Gordon's Red Lady.
Also on the bottom side of Jocko was a brother to Bentley's Susie Que 2xw (Long's Big Red).
