Is there a way we could open up a new category something like Dog discussion but specifcly about game dogs so we dont have to scan through the dog discussion and look for some real game dog threads. How many of you would like that please put your vote in.

For the people who vote no and dont care could we have a explanation to why you voted and why you voted yes to?

This is a game-dog forum, any other talk should be in the off topic category

See, Bulldog143, I would have voted yes, but the thing is, we have Dog Discussion where we can creat our own threads regarding gamebred dogs...I'm not saying your idea is a bad one by any means, but that's just how i figured it so either way it doesn't matter to me if one is made or not. :) i just weed out what i want to read

I voted no because its going to be a nightmare to moderate. We have a huge problem (more under control right now) with people talking dogfighting in the present. That is a no-no and frankly I don't much trust peoples discretion when it comes to watching what they say.

Its the "how is so and so producing"? and "can I get info on this dog"? threads that cause the most trouble because fools what to show how much they know and can't resist blabing.

The bloodlines section should cover any legit talk anyone wants to engage in.

I think its a novel idea. Granted, this is a Game Dog forum but we all know it has evolved into something different. The dog discussion forum is over run with all kinds of stuff. I think a Game Dog category would be great as long as it was strictly moderated. I know penn, you'll have your hands full but with cooperation from the participants it should be ok IMO. I voted No for reasons somewhere between what Penn posted and what BoiBoi posted.

I VOTED YES! Other sites have been sucessful with it, and this site often had true game dog talk back in the day. If you go thru some of the old thread you will see. You are right it does need to be moderated strictly..

To be honest, it would be a hell of alot easier to keep things clean if it was all in the one area.

Atleast we will know which posts to look in ;)

Thought a little more about this. As folks hate to be moderated, I forsee a lot of hurt feelings and bans if we move in that direction. People already have a hard time leashing their tongues as it is right now. If we start a sub-forum specifically for game dog talk, is that going to encourage folks to be even more loose-lipped, and consequently, even more pissed off when something they write gets edited or deleted? Telling people to watch what they say and then starting a sub-forum that in a way encourages that kind of thing seems to be talking out both sides of the mouth.

Additional concerns. If there is a gamedog-specific sub-forum, will it lead to flaming when non-gamedog owners post there? Will the participants be angry when their posts get moderated by someone who doesn't own gamedogs?

If it is decided to add this, I don't care. But I think these things need to be address before we go there.

ETA: Just a thought. What if folks had to apply for access to the sub-forum, or be referred by a long-standing member? That might be a way to stop those who already have a track record of needing moderation from taking advantage.

Then can you see why there would be a problem? Even before it gets off the ground, folks already want to alienate those who don't have gamebred dogs. There's enough of that already, don't you think? How could this get started without throwing more tobasco sauce in the rift?

No I can not. We have mods that do own real APBT's, and they could easily be put in charge of that specific section. We do not want to alienate others, but I think the people that come here specifically to talk about bulldogs should have a place to go (since the forum as a whole is accepting to staff, bully and crosses) without having to scroll through a bunch of posts that are of no relation to real American Pit Bull Terrier. I feel that the real people being alienated are the bulldog owners who come to a "bulldog forum" and get policed by someone who knows nothing of the like. That is just my opinion, take it or leave it.

jman you forget about this though...

Pit Bull Community's primary goal is to provide education to the public about the nature of the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) and related breeds such as the American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, all of which are often referred to as "pit bulls." These breeds have become the media's current choice of "dangerous dog," following the German Shepherd, the Doberman Pinscher, and the Rottweiler. In light of today's barrage of newspaper reports of pit bull attacks, it is hard to imagine that today's "bad dog" was once favored in the United States.

We are not a "Game bred dog forum only" The pit bull has about 20 different breeds involved to it and we are here to educate about them, one day I hope you finally understand that, take it or leave it.

Marty, I did not forget anything. Let me quote myself to clear this up.

  18. Some things, I suppose will never change. Seems nobody can be happy with the talk of the bulldog in general. Game talk does nothing but have heads turn your way. There was a time I thought this site to be nothing more than a liability. Seems many are still waiting to have it viewed as such again.
