I have bred dogs quite a few times, but I never have done two virgins at the same time. I have a few dogs, and I only breed maybe once every two years if there is a great demand for them. The problem is that he is not putting it in and she is trying to bite him. I think Im getting the bite part out of the equation, but I still would like alittle advice. I have a breeding stand and stuff but still alittle trouble...also female is 50lbs and male is 75lbs. HELP!!!

What are you trying to accomplish with your two "virgin" dogs? what is the breed that is trying to breed? And if he can't do it himself don't help him just seperate them. I think this will be the most friendly answer to you.:D

If you need to come to this board to ask questions about such simple procedures, means that you really don't have a clue, there for, you shouldn't be breeding any dogs at all. SPECIALLY, after making the most idiotic comment of all "breeding when there is a great demand"

I'm not going to give you a lecture on the subject at hand, but please man, do not contribute to the overwhelming, over population of these animals, who later, down the road, will end up in the hands of idiots, wannabee gangtas or the shelters, to be put down due to irresponsible people like yourself, breeding because there is a great demand and selling to just anyone with cash.

    Get my point?

Ill out it this way.If you dont have a reason dont breed.Stop supporting BSL.Now that said.If its worth breeding well you should help ur male.
How many days have the bitch.Been in heat? If she keep trying to bite well last thing is the breeding stand. And if that dont work well you have a gay male dog.jajajaja

  12. Well I doubt you will get you much help from anyone here.....the weight doesnt seem right.....probably no reason other than
And not only that, if you ask HOW TO BREED...most likely you should NOT be breeding.
I mean..there is ALWAYS a high demand for these dogs...you should tell your friends that want them or whomever you speak of, to go to their local shelter.
but I guess that might hurt your pocket a little huh?
    What a shame!

if you are not breeding to better/preserve this breed, you have no business breeding, period.

For those of you who replied to my thread positively thankyou. To the rest, well, when I say demand, that means I have at least 8 people who know my dogs, their parents, etc... I have OFRN pit bull terriers. They are strong, loving, and when they need to protective. I love my dogs, and I love the breed. I breed to improve the breed. First, I wouldn't buy a dog that didn't display characterists of a top dog. Second, I spent many years finding the sire/bitch to purchase a dog from. I am never quick to get a dog. If I wanted to make money, I would breed every heat. I don't. I might breed a dog once every two years, if that. If I can become rich off that please let me know how? I would like to get my private island to retire on. Anyways, If no one would want my dogs, I would not breed my dogs because that means my dogs don't meet the expectations of the breed. If they didn't supercide the breed standard, they would not be on my yard. People who see them and interact with them fall, in love with them, and want a dog from them. I may have lead you to believe that I need some money or something. I own my own business that was passed down to me. I am the third generation. So money is NOT the reason for breedin!!! I wish people could not look so deep into what people say. Everybody wants to always say something about stuff they don't know anything about. This is why this site is going in the direction it is going. Everything you know, you learned from someone else. Always remember that!!!

To the one or two that asked me in an attempt to aid me in breeding my dogs, THANKYOU!

John you must understand that the way you went about asking for help on breeding is what made people reply in a negative fasion. You claim to have bred from time to time in the past if that be the case then you should know whats wrong and how to correct it. This is why people are on you about breeding, sounds like you do not know what your doing and you are asking for help in producing a breed of dog that is under much scrutiny due to people who are doing the exact same thing your trying to acomplish.

When breeding any dog there should be a reason for the breeding, sire and dam should be winners of the show ring or on the rails, no one should be breeding just because they have nice dogs. Sorry you feel offended but that is the reaction you are gonna get anywhere you go to ask this question , so in a sense you offended us. The world does not need anymore unwanted APBT's represnting the breed.

So now that has been said let me ask you this, what is it that makes your dogs worthy of breeding ? Are you breeding for looks , color, size, temperment , keeping a family strain going ? What is it for ?

    I await for your reply.

First, thankyou for responding the way you did. I was not looking to argue with anyone, they started with me, but anyway.... I want to improve on the old family rednose strain. I have always had one. I want to improve on the strenght and heart of them, but also want to preserve the temperment. Temperment is most important to me because of all the bad press APBT receive already, and I hate to hear about kids getting bit(even though alot of the dogs are not pure/not a pit bull at all). I want to produce dogs that stay true to the breed, but that can help the view of the breed. I currently am trying to get the Lafayette Police Department to take a look at my dogs and to give me a trial. I want them to see my dogs in action. If they give me a chance, I think they might get a few of my trained dogs for different types of work. If I can get a contract of some sort. I think this breed can use the positive press, and not to mention my dogs love doing their jobs...thanks

    You misspelled idiot!!!
My dogs workout is 45min on treadmill, 30min running with me, weight pulling up to 270lbs(because that is all I have)(6x 45lbs), obedience training for 15min, and I switch up on the spring pole/jenny/swimming. If you would like to come take a look at them, that would not be a problem. I love people coming to see my dogs.

Wow! That's a narrow gene pool...while I do understand the need for conformation; I'll take a proven, ugly working dog over a pretty non working dog any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

How about only breeding dogs that are proven in a working venue?
