Does anyone know what the NKC stands for?,Is it a legit club?Just curious because I keep seeing an ad in my local paper for AB's for sale ,it says thats where they're registered ,but the dogs look very bow-legged to me.

National Kennel Club and used to be the the American Rabbit Hound Asso. Founded in the 60's and have been heavy into American Bulldogs and Pit Bulls as conformation, working and pulling dogs over the past few years! As for the add in the paper and the dogs being bowlegged! Well, some idiot is breeding to tight and has know understanding of how to breed dogs! AB's should have solid conformation and not be jacked up looking!

Thanks,I just dont know about these dogs ,their elbows are so turned out ,and the add says"Johnson Type bloodlines"What the hell does the word type mean ,Either they are or they arent Johnson blood. The whole thing just seemed kind of strange to me.These dogs have been in the paper for about three months now, fist at 2,000 a pup and slowly going down every week.

Where is this add listed? Johnson is a bloodline but there could be some other bloodline in there and they don't know what they are talking about. They might have Johnson listed one time in the ped and call it that because they have heard from someone else thats what it's called!

There's a big difference between Johnson dogs and Standard or Scott type ABs.

The standard dogs are functional working dogs. The vast majority of Johnson dogs can't work the way the standards do because of their type and how they've been bred for many generations. The funny thing is, they (Johnson and Scott) started off with the same dogs. Johnson just crossed other breeds into them to get the look and size.

From what I understand, Johnson was not the only one to do a little mixing. I heard Johnson mixed some EB into his dogs, but Scott mixed APBT into his.

All strains of the AB have APBT in them.

The modern day AB is a mix of several different breeds, but sadly the Johnson dogs in the AB world have become the Gotti dogs of the APBT world. EB is being crossed into the dogs even today. They are being bred for chest size, head size, and overall weight. Working ability in the vast majority of the Johnson dogs is extremely limited or nonexistent.

I've got several close friends who are AB people. Most of them work hybrids or run the Scott dogs. I don't know anyone who is actively working a Johnson dog with success.
