Tant Bred Dogs

What's the background on the Tant dogs. What are some of their characterisitcs and what are they known for. I know Yellow was supposed to be one of his best producers. Thank you.

tant was known to produce high quality bulldogs. if you had a certain dog you have in mind post a ped. i'm sure people would be more than glad to comment on it.

 

I would take any dog from that man's yard.

 

Tant bred the Red Boy/Jocko cross and mostly Gr Ch Yellow. I think the line is great especially crossed into the Patrick blood.

Tant is well known for REDBOY / JOCKO. Gameness and endurance are the traits.They cross well with anything (IMO) especially Jeep. If you find one with a hard mouth, it is a keeper and you should keep it. I did.

 

Has anyone else noticed that with some pure Redboy/Jocko dogs (no Jeep/Hollingsworth or any other out) some start to look a little like American Bulldogs? Real sort of Bulldog looking head? I've seen a couple that if you didn't know better you might think are mixed. Its interesting to me that that cross can throw out that look.

 

not really a cross anymore....been bred together for about 25 years or so.....he got his dogs from the old man.....

 

I've been told that the Tant dogs are not a good choice for first time bulldog owners. That they can be aggressive towards people (strangers in particular) . Not the type of dog that anyone can just come up pet. Not badmouthing the line, cause I have no idea. But they are beasts, real solid looking. Any truth to this???

I would have to say, "spontaneous combustion" is a good way to put it. Many around here cross it into Jeep, I some like that and are good dogs, I actually like them better crossed into the Bolio, as someone else has said.
Seems like Redboy straight up isnt that great, but when it is crossed into something it always adds a nice quality.
Kinda is a living example that a not so great dog can produce something worthwhile, in a way.

 

I think that the Redboy dogs are game with little ability, but an outcross to Jeep or Jocko is a proven cross and you get some very nice dogs.

I can only speak for the ones I've seen of course. So it could be the ones around here that they say are "tight redboy". That's just what I've noticed.

 

Yea, them tight reboy breeding dont produce well around here. It would be nice to have one to cross with, but I wouldnt base a yard off them. I would bet if them dogs your speaking of are "game w/ability" they have something crossed into them. Funny thing with what folks say, many times their mouths dont add up to the facts. EX. Had a fella several miles from here said he had a "tight bred boudreaux dog". I spoke to him and was kinda excited about a breeding we were gona do, well, I drove to his house and wanted to look at the pedigree and was upset. This tightbred dog had one dog in the 6 gen pedigree with the b. name on it! Dog looked like a bat too! I told him, "you owe me $20!" he said why? I said for the gas I just spent to get here and look at this dog, cause it aint what you told me it was!

LOL! brother ain't that the truth. That's why I always tell people to not talk shit about their dogs and to let the dogs speak for themselves.

 

Havent had that problem out of mine yet. But i do know someone who has a few that are like that to strangers. Maybe it has to do with who the parents are. Now Ill have to ask some other folks that run this line.
