I went and bought me a pretty nice carpet mill for a price i could resist. It spins very freely and already got all the dogs runnin on it even the pup for fun. Does anybody know what type of carpet is best for the dogs feet. And does anybody know any good keeps for a carpet mill? Here are pics and a video of the pup on the mill for the first time havin fun. Ill get more video of the big dogs on it.

If I was you, I'd nail me another board to the front of it and have another place to hook the front of the dog to. If for some reason the dog slipped and fell, got tired or something, the dogs feet could get injured there. We always had a clasp in front and in back of the dog which keeps the dog square in the middle. Hard lesson to learn, for man's conscience, and the dog's body!
What are the rollers made of on the ends? and what did they use to hook the two ends of the carpet together?

Yeah im going tommorow to get another board in the front. Its PVC pipe that makes it turn but in the middle of it is plexie glass and you put some "lube" on it and it makes it spin faster and more freely. Its really not bad for the price i paid for it. But i think im going to build one with the same design but use rollerblade wheels instead of PVC pipe.

If you build one like it, go ahead and use some plywood for the sides, that way the dog cant put a leg out the side also. What is the carpet hooked together with?

  5. GO TACO !!
Hey i bought half that damn mill LMAO.. j/k...
OMG CB say lube again LMAO... its damn silicone spray !!
They sewed the carpet together with leather... works perfect ..

  6. hey CB woud you be able to get me some specs on that mill. It looks preattyhome made I thought I would tryto build one.

a carpet mill is not designed for a "keep". ESPECIALLY that one wit a fixed incline... unless you are conditioning for weight pull or the pretty show. you didnt know that? and PVC as rollers???? lol, CB, if you paid even $100 for that thing and got to put $100 back into it then you should have just bought a Grand.

remember ya get what you pay for. and your not going to finish 1st with 2nd hand equipment. dont get me wrong, if you not lookin for much, great deal. but, a bike could do you just as good and you woulnt have had to put the $$$ in the persons hand that just came up off your $$$.

    good luck!

Yea, slatmill is the way to go. Someone had told me about a mill that looked allot like that one, for very cheap, when I kept inquiring, they showed me a pic of it, and...well, I didnt get one. Could've taken the $100 and built a small catmill, but I do hope it does for you what you are wanting.

Your dog might LOOK good but that doesn't mean it IS.
You can get some nice tone with a carpet mill and reducing feed, but it doesn't do much for your dog's performance... Strength training isn't anywhere near as important as endurance training in a keep. And guess what? Carpet mills don't do squat for endurance.

I agree with 50. Forget the carpetmill! Buy a bike, save up for a slatmill, or *gasp* get off your lazy ass and hand walk your dog. BTW, not directing that at anybody, just making a point, lol.

  15. you know its so contriversal. There are some that dont like the carpet mill some that dont like the slat mill. You cant impress everyone even if you tried. But I just say find something that is working for you and go for it. Overall I think hand walking is the best. But If this is what is working for you without spending your entire day walking dogs great man go for it. You got some nice looking dogs and odveousely your doing something right because I see pictures of you placing in the show all the time. BTW if you want to get rid of that mill I,ll be glad to take it LOL.

sorry SLK for the late reply. I had to take you off my ignore list to see what ya said. my sources informed me that you started your behind the fence yip yap again.
Im not sure who conditions weight pull with a carpet. but, I could give you some pointers on how to use a carpet mill. seems as if you still have a lot of hostility under your skin. I must have really got to ya huh? you obviously have no respect for the program i am running. dont let anger consume you. and make sure you dont burn this bridge, you might need me to get to the top one day. answer the phone if you got so much to say. OR, is the number on your site just for your peddling victims? STOP TYPING BULLSHIT and insults. it looks bad on you.
I figured since this is what you people do with your dogs might be useful. if he didnt get it for that then what?? CB WAS THE ONE LOOKING FOR A KEEP FOR A CARPET MILL. lol.. yea, you got his back alright. ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!!!!!
hell, I wouldnt even have bought that shit- so why ask me anything?

ps- Zoey dont look all that in that pic. no hips no shoulders. your So proud of that SINGLE accomplishment huh? thats what your carpet mill did for you? HA HA. here is one on the chain. [IMG]

I agree sedalia. something is better than nothing. my original post was to simply adress the "keep" issue that CB mentioned.

BUT remember, placing in dog shows only has so much purpose for this breed. dogs place in shows with bad hips, elbows, kidneys, blind etc. AND, not to mention, the gamest dog might not win..

cb - good luck with your new mill. how sturdy is it w/ the rear on blocks? i figured just a tip of te rear leg would be on the block...it doesn't wobble does it? i didn't know if the dog was runnin real hard if it rocked at all.

50 - come on man....you dogs don't have "grit" unless they are conditioned on a carpet mill. you should know that. duh.

It's funny because your "refrence" cold steel said that there were plenty of keeps for a carpet mill. So thats coming from one of your people i guess you go against there word now. And for zoey she goes in 2-3 pounds lighter then that. And why hate on people showing dogs wasnt it not to long ago that you made a thread about "man" winning at a show and all that?

I dont think your opinon really counts on this board shouldnt you be over there on PitBullChat.com where there are more people like you? Look at your dogs they dont look like they have been walked one day so look at your dogs before you look at anybody else's.
