hello, i am new to the forum.. well, my room mate and i each have a red nose... they are brothers, and almost 15 weeks old, my question is, what is a safe age to start playing with him with a weighted collar.. i mean by no means am i going to work out my infant dog now with this collar, but i was just wondering what a good age is to start? ill post pics of my dogs as soon as i get them developed, because i am also wondering about how big you guys think they will get to be.. thanks for all answers ahead of time..

I also have a question like that my female pup (red boy/sorrell) is 3 months at 20lbs, how big you think she might be?

well this is a subject talked on alot. and i have to applaude you for being honest about your experience with this breed.
well i have some bad news, any kind of weights, of any type on a dogs bones and joints before the bones and joints are finished growing can be bad. generally a dogs bones grow for the first 10 to 12 months of life, and the muscle tone and such finish growing with in the next year. now i could have said, when he is two years plus, but i didn't, you make the call.

thank you.. i have lots of friends with pit bulls, so i have a small amount of knowledge on this breed. but none of them have ever considered using weighted collars.. so wait till about 2 years of age?? haha, i dont know if i can wait that long, but i guess its safer on the puppy to just wait, and not do any long term damage to his joints or muscles.. BTW, he is 14.5 weeks at 20lbs, i had his ears cropped at 9 weeks, and his head is already getting considerably big for how young he is (the breeder said his head is going to he huge), his chest is really deep.. im hopin hes gonna be a monster... ill post pics as soon as i can...

Dz,the pup looks good.should be a good sized dog.One of my males weighed in at 31 pounds @14 weeks old.I last weighed him about a month or so ago and he went in at 47.He is now considerably bigger.
Kane post pics as soon as you can.I am interested to see how your pup looks.
Nitrous, your pup is close to DZ's pup's age.how is her size comparing the two?

My pitt is 13 months old and shes about 55ilbs, I doubt she will get much bigger... I was actually surprised, I thought she was going to be a big pitt but she's really not. I don't think 55lbs at 13 months is very big or is it???? Im not to sure, this is my first time owning a pitt.

55 lbs is a big pit when in general true pits only weigh between 30 and 55 lbs
