All hogs were found and caught with dogs.

I like to ask if I dont know. I read your answer to my other question, THANKS!
Now, my next question about hunting.
After the dogs get the hog, how the f**** do you kill it? I saw somebody with a knife on the pic. If thats how, dont you ever get slashed?
If that was me, I would be 6 ft under!

You can do it a couple diffrent ways. Although I've never been hunting myself, I am fairly familiar with the practice and have been intrigued for awhile and have talked to many hunters so I may have some knowledge to use when I move to a hog-infested area. Some folks let the dogs fight it awhile until the boar looses most its fight and then they run in and hog-tie its feet together, load it up, and take it home. This way, they can stick the hog in a pen and feed it good food for a few weeks before slaughter and the pig will taste much better. However the downside to this is actually caring for the pig, and the damage that could be caused if it escaped again!

The other method I know of is a little more seat-of-the-pants and involves just running up on the boar while the dogs have a hold, and slicing its throat.

Either way it takes some serious kahunas to run up on a pissed on, survival-mode boar!

As far as harvesting the hog...14rock has the idea...once the catchdogs catch it, you grab the hogs back legs and throw it on it's side from there you can either hobble it (tie its legs) or stick it with a knife (our preferred method, front arm pit straight to the other side for a quick, clean harvest). The quicker you can get there and leg the hog reduces the chances of the dogs getting injured. Unless it is a really bad boar, the strike dogs will help catch too. But make no mistake about it when a couple of good bulldogs hit, that hog is caught. We don't tie them that often because the bigger places we hunt we have to walk hunt. A field dressed hog is about 1/3rd lighter than live weight. That makes alot of difference on those 300+ lbs hog...

Depends on the State as to the law regarding hunting with dogs as far as when and where. As far as not being able to hunt with a specific breed of dog, I've never heard of that.

Bull hunting "aka bull baiting" is illegal in all states, and even most 3rd world countries. Maybe when bulls start running around destroying crops and attacking people, they will open a bounty on them, but until that day comes...we can only wait :D

    LOL

  20. so boar hunting is legal. Thanks
