My uncle had a wolf puppy name Dakota that grew up to be around 137 lb.My uncle knew I was into my pit dogs he would get to drinking and start talking shit about his wolf kicking my dog's ass. and yes it was a timber wolf.My uncle used to say let's put them in a 5-acre fenced in wooded area and see who's going to survive he would say the wolf is going to eat. By that time I was tired of my uncle talking shit So I took my biggest dog at the time that wade between 62 and 64 lb I took my dog to my uncle's house and started to thinking maybe I bit off too much. F### it my uncle wolf grab my dog by the head not before my dog grab his wolf front leg and would not come out of hold this went on for about 10 minutes and we broke them apart.the damage was done to the front leg and the damage to my dog's head and muzzle it was a bloody mess it took a while for my dog to heal up. My uncle had 3 acres fenced in had a shepherd and boxer dog get in into the yard and Dakota would jump onto the dogs and F### them up.This all took place about 91 or 92.

In the last 20 or 23 years the laws have changed you cannot own a wolf or wolf hybrid. when the laws went into effect my uncle said he was not giving up his wolf pup he kept his wolf pup for about 15 years until it died of old age.

    [Wikipedia]

The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog (Czech: Československý vlčák, Slovak: Československý vlčiak, German: Tschechoslowakischer Wolfhund) is a relatively new dog breed of wolfdog that traces its original lineage to an experiment conducted in 1955 in Czechoslovakia.

After initially breeding working line German Shepherds with Carpathian grey wolves, a plan was worked out to create a breed that would have the temperament, pack mentality, and trainability of the German Shepherd and the strength, physical build and stamina of the Carpathian wolf.

The breed was engineered as attack dogs for use in military special operations done by the Czechoslovak special forces commandos but were later also used in search and rescue, schutzhund-sport, tracking, herding, agility, obedience, hunting and drafting in Europe and the United States. It was officially recognized as a national breed in Czechoslovakia in 1982, and was officially recognised as a breed by Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) in 1989.

According to a friend and mentor in the know, there is much disinformation out there about the workability, past breeding programs of the wolf/dog. He thinks the word ‘hybrid’ is inaccurate since the the wolf essentially is genealogically same as domesticated dog. The wolf brings nothing really to a purpose bred dog from proven working lines.

So these wolf/GSD crosses had such athleticism during proofing by the central government owned border patrol kennel they would run behind a vehicle for 40 km on and off road, and afterwards were still chasing rabbits... This level of power and endurance is not needed to catch a human. Besides, the crosses simply weren’t no where near as trainable as the purebred GSD for man work as they had different motivations from wild ancestry.

That's the law here in Georgia referring to wolves and wolf hybrids. Other states have different laws.

Regarding Czech Wolf dog experiment, quote from a close source.
    ----
The original goal of the program was not to rejuvenate but to increase endurance. The problem was that while some CVs could run 40 Km by car and then when the test was over they could break off on their own and chase a rabbit with gusto, they were not producing consistently workability. The military/ LE breeding program needs consistency of workability. Who cares if the dog can run 25 or 30 miles + such endurance is admirable but has no practical use in LE or Military dogs. That is why the program was scrapped.
To say that breeders of CVs are daft because they do not want to breed these dogs as GSD makes no sense. CV is now different breed and has specific standard Since they could not approach GSDs in workability, they prefer the more natural look of a wolf because they believe that that gets together with the excellent quality of hips and elbows. I have talked to Karel Hartl about this. The workability of these dogs is sufficient for their owners and they prefer such together with excellent hips and elbows quality while improving workability independently of GSD who has its own problems which these people do not want to inheret. ...CV people like a natural dog where physical characteristics are derived from the Carpathian wolf.

Deeper dive from an online conversation about wolf dog project for anyone interested.

    MILITARY-
did not move to dogs with higher endurance as you are erroneously stating. If you think that higher endurance is what made them to chose malis then you are mistaken. Any 1/2 ass GSD can out-endure any dog handler in a difficult mountainous environment like in Afganistan. Reason for using Malis is different but I am not going to degenerate this thread into GSD vs Malis.
___ is showing what everybody knows. Some of the dogs bred with wolves will be an excellent specimen. So what? Breeding for MIlitary and LE must be consistent and predictable in working quality. That is why we have pure breeds. Consistency and predictable. CVs were and still are inconsistent and genetically unpredictable. Z Ps breeders could not afford such inconsistency. Candian Mounted police breed the 4 % consistency. That is lunacy! If you would have such result working for communist Czechoslovakia then you would end as a prisoner in Uranium mines for sabotaging the Communist effort. .
Russians are now trying to breed the same type of a dog and from hundreds of dogs they can show less than a handful of dogs who can 1/2 ass work. Nothing new under the sun. CV failed the same way decades ago.
Now there are private breeders who believe in the new breed and do not want to follow steps of GSD because they want to avoid GSD's baggage -....while unfortunately acquiring baggage of a wolf. Bless their heart. I am rooting for them.
    GENETICS
you nave it wrong when you say CV is genetically 25% wolf. CV same as any other dog is genetically same species as a wolf. Scientifically CV same as any dog is genetically 100% wolf. Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species and subspecies. CV particularly is a combination of many wolf subspecies and some are extinct so we do not have DNA. We have DNA of Carpathian wolf and among other wolves, the CV has 25 % of it. So that is what that silly video means.
Also, there is no such thing like wolf hybrid. Hybrid is a cross between 2 species and dog and wolf are of the SAME species.
Wolf hybred is a creation of fanatical AR people who want to ban all pets. I refuse to use the terminology of Wolf HYBRID. In many states, they passed laws that we can not keep wildlife in private possession. I know of cases where these so-called hybrids were confiscated and put down. CVs are fighting this right now. Then Your careless statements of silly video like the one you posted then only caters into the hands of these fanatics. Next step is part of the wildlife cross like "hybred " wolf/ dog. Next will be, in my pessimistic or maybe realistic view, dogs resembling wolf like GSD, Huskey, Malamute, Malinois and so on until all pet dogs are banned. .
    TITLING
Titling is being pursued. How do you know that it is not? GSD who came from a wolf as a result of thousands upon thousands of gener
ations. To take genetically a fragile breed of GSD and cross it with the wolf is throwing breeding of dogs thousands of generations backward. Why do you think that it should take only one lifetime to perform like a GSD?
