Anybody ever seen a photo of Dan McCoy,of OFRN fame?

 

It's funny coz I heard Crenshaw's Rascal was 'not' a hard mouthed dog, but won his outings on talent and gameness, but apparently he threw mouth in high percentages, least that's what I heard, wonder whether any truth in that? It makes sense to breed a multi winning male based on talent when you already know the mouth is screaming to get out his DNA. Crenshaw was a great breeder, I do know that much!

To me 'bred it' and 'great breeder' are not one and the same thing.
At his 'best' times he only kept 12 dogs, all males, if I remember correctly (that's out of his own book, I believe).
Most all of his breedings were done with dogs someone else bred.
In his 'later' years he was more into the puppy selling and stud fee business (GrCh Black Jack, Ch Gator) ...

 

Most people who bred great dogs (and Crenshaw's were 'great') got them from other people down the line.. If you don't think Crenshaw was a great breeder, that's ok man! Your opinion My opinion is Crenshaw was a 'GREAT' breeder and the 'GREAT' dogs that he bred proved it!
