People say just get a pit know we want a good Stafford we want a Stafford to look like a Stafford and hopefully the ability of its American version

 

Do you know how sad it is to look at them show staffords the kc bench ones I think what have they done to these poor noble breed in my opinion you need the American version to improve the English version and keep well away from kennel clubs

 

And the British bulldog what a sorry state I'd inject the gargoyle and leavitt bulldog straight into it but that's another story

 

Forgot scarecrows Duke and Godfrey's ch.rocky. not forgetting Ch red bull. I know that these were in the 80/90s but are well worth mentioning.

 

I respect your opinion @billbulldog and agree with a lot of what you said.. I always had a fondness for Staffordshire Terriers but admit to having little knowledge of working strains, I saw a few over the years and some were decent little dogs.. I blame the breeders for their demise! Liars, deceivers, paper hangers and peddlers and that's in both KC and working versions of the breed.. I honestly believe if a raggy arsed dogman showed up with his prospect at 90% of working Stafford yards in UK offering owners a chance to prove their working stock, he'd get 90% excuses, 5% maybe attempt it, then stop after 2 minutes of embarrassment and the other 5% maybe have a party.. I owned my first Stafford in 1981, took him to a few KC shows, watched 100 fat barrels straining on leads, probably hoping their owners wouldn't let go.. Got baptised in a lot of the gameness bullshit I still hear today, never took long to learn you won't find gameness in men's boasts or pretty pedigrees.. The only place to find it is out in the woods.. You know it when you see it!

 

I agree , Iv not seen one pure SBT do anything since the 1980s,, all other proven good SBT have some APBT blood in them , if they do and still have a lot of the SBT features , what is wrong with that ? when I first got into the dogs , I use to go to SBT shows , the people where different then , a lot worked their dogs , some matched them , and the dogs ware hard and well made, what we see at Kc shows to day are dogs that are not far off a toy dog , dogs like Wayfare Prince naseem , to me are not SBTs,,, small tiny , little round heads & big eyes, tiny short mouths and a little dainty walk

 

Top one is Prince Naseem , a modern kc show Champion
next Ch Buster , a modern pit winner , who has a small amount of APBT blood
and bottom the first male Kc Show Champion ,,

That prince naseem dog should be re-branded as a Staffordshire bulldog.

 

Nobody loves the staffs more than me but you are right they just a womans dog now .... still got my old stuff but for more sentimental reasons than owt else ....ive had them since i was 21 and will have one around me till i die
