They banned them where I live effective March 1, 2019. They told us last yr around December. I asked the animal control guy that came to inform me when was the vote. He told me there was none. He said in his honest opinion they trying to get rid of the bulldogs, that’s the term he used and all. There was an e-article that said my city was on the “fast track” to keeping with standards and practices to be a modern city. Bullshit is what it is. I lost a good dog because I had to rehome him...

Passed easily here in Pa as well. Enacted on September 2017. Dubbed Libras Law. Good luck treez.

It cost me a small fortune to convert to kennels and I'm still several grand away from being done completely. Dogs aren't better off for it either.

Thanks. I'll just tuck some off in the woods and put the ones that are visible on cable runs. I hate kennels and so do the dogs.

We have not done it as a state but there are several counties that have adopted the anti-tethering laws.

Hopefully it works out for your area treez.

I know its serious but on a lighter note, it will definitely cripple that axle peddling business you mentioned some time back.

They just keep trying to hold a good man down. And the swivels are kick ass.

LMAO, Slim you're a trip! On a "glass half full" note it might help my axle peddling business. The way I have been doing my cable runs is using 2 axles to run the cable from one end to the other and I connect the chain to the cable via a thick o ring. Instead of selling 1 axle per dog maybe I'll be selling 2 per dog now LOL. Gotta laugh to keep from crying, right?? HAHA. Thanks on the swivels, glad you're liking them!

That's a dam shame.I recently went to a lighter chain for a 55 lbs c.w. bitch who had hotspots.. I bought the chain from a local hardware store that that was said to be proven the 2500 lb is a ton. Look pretty decent had 3 inch ring, to go to the collar , ect .I took a few photos. And less than a week I ended up with a dead dog out here . she broke the chain, and I had to bury my 35 lbs bitch , my baby I've had for 9 years... I take full responsibility and blame myself.. I just don't think people realize that don't know this breed just how strong this breed is. Also looks can be deceiving, as there strength is very deceptive.....

I never go by the load #. That 2500lbs is a slow lift until the chain breaks. These dogs are slamming the end of their chains with a very low center of gravity which puts a lot more stress on a chain link than slowly lifting weight until it fails. A lot of force is generated when one of these mutts hit the end of the chain.

Instead, I would recommend going back to a higher grade chain and get the dogs padded collars instead. O'brians and Stillwater both sell them, get the neoprene padded collars not the fleece. The latter gets wet and will start to smell. The neoprene is weatherproof.
Cured my dogs collar rub when they were getting it pretty bad, especially my chain yankers. That and some nustock.

I also always doubled up on the O'rings that the collar goes through. One may fail but 2 is very unlikely too.

Shitty way to loose a dog. Sorry for your loss.

Looks like the links arent welded but just mushed together, and the size of the chain is barely puppy worthy here.

Looks like the ornamental chain my gma hung potted plants from.

Shame you had an such an avoidable accident. I only use grade 70 5/16 chain. Never had an issue with the chains.

Some of the links dont look welded.* also that rusted/weathered pretty quickly.

They are spot welded, that one pic very well missed the spot weld or it's just pulled. This happened over a month ago .2cd I use O'Brien's collars. Not padded. I know it's my fault and accept full responsibility. Now, Over the years, I also had bulldogs chew through chain link kennels , dig under, climb out , jump out , What have you. This is a what happens when I tried to cut a corner.

Kennels are for beagles, labs and puppies anyway. Theres not enough room in them for a high strung adult bulldog to be in on a daily basis. I cringe every time I see Bulldogs in 10×10 kennels. Jmo

It will become the norm as more and more states pass laws against tethering.
I would much rather my dogs where on chain spots but the law is the law and since I'm constantly under a microscope there is no getting around it.

Some do fine in them others become neurotic in them. Mine are 5'x15' but it's still about 275sqft less than they had on 10' chain set ups. I literally fit 5 kennels in 1.5 dogs chain spot.

The fuckers are winning and it makes me sick.

Ive had to do it in the past and had all the typical issues you hear about.

I have mixed feelings on it all and dont want to offend or hurt anyones feelings. I'll just say I wont keep mine in them until the law makes me.

It's very unfair to say the least. Agk hit it on the nose . He has to abide by the law. We all know,Bulldogs on the chain can run the circle , side side . But in a kennel that can't even break into a trot. Very few times in my life have I ever had a real chain fell me, mainly just hardware, super Sandy ground here. Yet that's no excuse .Human error. I got too comfortable and left her on a light chain a couple of days too long. That's what happens when you start getting old, busy with work and just plain lazy. Once again I learn the hard way, and it cost me my baby's life, lots of tears. And saddest thing is , I know better... To whom much is given much is required.I've got them one little male and one female left now, I'm going to get me a few chickens on a chain.....
