  1. Hello to everyone, glad joining forum helping me grow my puppy..
Can someone experienced give me his opinion if my 2 months puppy is a purebred amstaff?
Also his front legs are not straight, they have an ankle,is this normal?
Vet told me he is fine nothing wrong on
orthopedics. He told me give him extra calcium for 1 month to be covered.
    Thanks again

    Best wishes to all!!!

    Welcome. Nice looking pup.

Dogs have ankles (Tarsal) and no one will be able to tell you that by a photo. Only the breeder would know.

A better picture to show that would be the dog facing the camera and standing. Or a profile view while standing.

Looks like a am staff to me. If you bought a non papered dog there is really no point in thinking to much about it being pure or not. If its really bothering you you could send a spit swab in to a place like DNA my dog for around $50 dollars and they can tell you whats in it for your own knowledge.

    Welcome.

Even if it turns out to be a great dog it still will not be able to read. LOL

A good dog is a good dog regardless of lineage.

And 'pure' is a relative term.

Raise him up happy and healthy and odds are he will be a good one.

If your vet told you your puppy's legs are normal, find a new vet. Those legs are not normal and will only get worse and cause permanent injury unless you change his food and the amount you are feeding. He has what is called knuckling over. He is growing so fast that his bones and ligaments are growing at different rates. The food you are feeding is causing this problem. You need to switch to a food that is low in fat and protein and do not give more than he needs. Until you switch to a new food, cut back on the amount you are feeding now. Find a good quality holistic food that is in the 24% protein and 13% fat range. Keep him on this food while he is still growing. You will see his legs straighten out after a few weeks.

  8. The vet told me to get some extra calcium tablets, and the truth is last 10 days his food was a bit more than normal.
Iam feeding him biological barf (chicken, lamb, fish) + mixed premium kiddle.
Is this a good diet? What to do?the pup is now 9 weeks old...
I really i am confused and i want the best for him...

There is some good advice in this thread. You may just be overfeeding a bit. I think calcium supplements are a bad idea with growing pups, or any dog for that matter unless there is known deficiency. Processed, so-called superfoods (high protein, fat, calcium etc) are not so super when overfed to pups. Pups should be kept thin and active not fat, to ensure they grow slowly and evenly. JMO and good luck.

    Great advice.

The calcium supplements are a bad idea unless blood work indicates a deficiency.

Lots of puppies just simply grow too fast for their own good. Couple that with either crappy food and/or being over fed and medical problems are just about a guarantee.

A fat little butterball while nursing is pretty much OK and seldom is an issue. Once we are in control of their feed and their daily activity it is our job to keep them lean and fit.

A puppy that age the first step is dialing in the food intake as most will be active enough just playing. The kicker is that that food intake can go up and down daily.

Most knuckling issues can be corrected with not only the right feed but the right amount of feed.

    Best of luck.

  13. Thanks guys for your reply, the story continue like this..
Today puppy couldnt walk well by his fron lrft leg..His condition become worst...
I did this 2 actions today..
    1) Like "scratchin dog" suggest,i bought a low protein 24% and fat 12% kiddle.
    Put them in side.
    2) went to a second vet to get a second opinion, and yes,i paid again :((
Its a clinic vet. So,he told me pup has knocking problem.
The 2 reasons happend is a)overweight b) the floor he is moving playing etc.I have him inside in home,
Second Vet said,"Give him extra calcium tabs, and Royal cani puppy kiddle, and NO BARF!"Also that its very soon and no permament knock will avoid.
Now i am in a situation that i really dont know what to do,i really me and my wife feeling sad and spending money buying all multiple kind of food.
I am going to choose my option 1,near to scratchin dog opinion but + calcium tabs for couple of days.It seems more logical to keep him low for a week, and then give him full protein agian...
    GIVE OPINIONS GUYS !!!
    thanks

  14. Update photo, pups right front leg has became ok,but left leg became worst~X(:((

I’m no veterinarian. Maybe best to follow the vet’s directions.
However a last ditch effort to consider may be to simplify the pup’s diet, and experiment slightly under-feeding for a week or so. You will not hurt the pup keeping him a little hungry. Maybe boiled chicken, or boiled meat augmented with plain pumpkin puree, or boiled potato, or brown rice. Tablespoon of plain yogurt added. This is nutritional, natural food which will cost you much less than royal canin trash in a bag loaded with preservatives.

  16. Thanks for the reply,i haaave him now in 24% protein 11% fat kiddle diet + calcium tabs, his right foot become stronger but left is bad...
When he wokes up in the morning is just bad,but when he is moving for couple of minutes it become worst.Do you think will need x-rays?Is there any possibility to be broken or sthng?
He is not hurting when i touching it,or pushing the knock with my finger in the right place.
Do you suggest me to go and in a 3d vet to see him?
How many days i supposed to see results becoming better?3 days passed with this low fat diet

  17. He needs culling!...I'm sorry but that pup is not going to get any better...he looks deformed.and he's only gonna suffer more has he gets older..witch is not fair man........
It sounds like your vet needs the sack!.Telling you no barf???..that vet is after your money!.I think vets are part of the problem more then the solution........
I honestly think his legs look really bad.I don't think a vet can help you .....I think what people have posted is more help them any vet.so follow there advise.follow there free advise!.advise of a vet is incorrect.and as you no far from free...stop I reapet.stop.giving that pup extra calcium!....Raw diet is your only chance.fuck your vet!.he will make your dog more fucked up, and get rich in the process.......
Read one of Dr Billinghursts books....
I'm sure he mentions something about giving a dog with abnormalities or deficiencies a lean meat diet....
Raw all the way my friend...
I could be wrong..I mean no disrespect to you or you pup..
But what if it don't inprove?.what if it's in pain?.that's why I said it needs culling.not in a horrible way..and it's not your fault..you must be rather annoyed this is happening to you.and it's not nice..but I gotta say that pups legs look terrible..is it just my eyes??..has anybody seen a pup with legs that bad? And the legs have straightened out normally as the dogs got older?...I've seen a couple young pups with bandy legs or rather funny knuckel.but they always levelled out...but none of them were as bad as that pup........
Anyone?????...legs as bad as that pups, and they have levels out?????...if anyone has seen legs as bad as that, that have levels out...then they the folk that can help you.
    Good luck!!!
