So many people just don't want to believe that Paper hanging has been going on for many years. The Old timers would sell you a Bulldog but not the recipe to say it nicely. J.P. Colby was hands down the best breeder of Bulldogs there has ever been. He was a gentlemen, He was dedicated, Gifted, & Honnest. His pedigrees were true. His word was good. I realize that there are to this very day a few good honest breeders out there. I also learned 35 plus years ago , A Bulldog just isn't a Real Bulldog unless its got some Colby in it. Regardless of fake paper work trails that go back 100 years. There is way more hidden Colby in today Bulldogs that will ever meet the eye. If anyone is wondering why I wrote this post. Read the notes on the bottom of the Ped posted.....

As an example, Komosinski dogs often were rumoured to have a portion English bull terrier in their vains.
Who knows ?, fact is that the man had fine dogs.
And was well respected by his peers, Maurice Carver as you believe all the rumours surrounding him was a master in breeding good dogs and hanging papers on them as well.
And there are some others out there who are good in this scam as well.
Yes paperhanging and all other different dirty tricks are going on in some circles till far back.
    Part of it all.
Colby bred great dogs, he was not by all beloved in the fraternity by going public with his dogs.
If you are honest the haters will line up around you.
The whole dog game, is wadding through a pool of mud, which can be a funny past time.

Yes the Old Master himself was The Man who originally said, A Bulldog just isn't a Real Bulldog unless its got some Colby in it. Of course our old friend. "TDK" wrote a post about Maurice' s gamesmanship. He just didn't give a dam whether or not you knew or you didn't know when it came to his breeding and the way he wrote them up. I understand completely where your coming from about J.P. Colby going against the grain selling Bulldogs to anyone with the money to buy them. Yet , He maintained his integrity as well as provided for a large family never working a day for another man. He made his living breeding Bulldogs. Contrary to popular belief, J.P
got along with Mr.Corvino, Mr. Henry, ect. They also did some outstanding breedings keeping the quality of the Bulldog 1st. This is where these gentlemen put differnces aside and kept sight of the this Worlds Greatest Breed. So when I read about such great Bulldogs such as. "Dibo" regardless of paperwork, I think to my self, Nothing more or nothing less than "The Old Rugged Cross "

Good thread. I like that . as both sides always seemed to be at eachother.
Same way in most articles. Those 2 bloods were the roots..and the crosses carried them.
I like the ol rugged cross note Dex.
